Hello again ! I still follow your posts with a lot of interest. Thanks to all of you. Speaking of Python, I recently discovered this great e-learning cursus "learn how to program a search engine in Python", a 7 weeks long class with videos and great teachers. From what I understood (I applied online...

Hello Folks, I've just stumbled upon this slideshare document and found it quiet interesting : http://www.slideshare.net/mattangriffel/how-to-teach-yourself-to-code Basically, it recommends Ruby as to achieve a prototype quickly, when you're an entrepreneur. I like the "DIY" approach of the learning...

Hi, I'd like to give it a try as I'm on the learning curve for PHP as well. Don't hesitate to ask your questions. You surely know this already, but Drupal is not PHP, it is a way of using it, based on a concept called "nodes". Other CMS use their own concepts (or not). AFAK, PHP is a great web langu...

I can also listen to an album looped all day long. I like violin a lot, and all that strings. I like repetitive music. I listen to Steve Reich a lot, John Zorn, Brian Eno, Philipp Glass, Kronos Quartet, Malher, Satie... In the morning I sometimes cheer me up with some punk/rock/fusion tracks (Dinosa...

Hi Laurence, Looking at your experience I thought it could be wise to ask about assemblers. Do you have some favorites URL pointers | books I could get my hands on ? to begin with ? If you think that a particular CPU is better than others to rightfully understand the whole thing, I might even consid...

Back to the topic/poll, I did install a Linux Mandrake once (french company distro). Because of the lack of support for drivers (that was back in 2000 I guess), I didn't go far. Then in 2004 I met a sysadmin IRL who praised Debian so well that I had a go at Woody. Now I would like to go all over and...

Writing is about the connexions the synapses established betwen themselves in our brain. It is as subtile as looking carefully two people walking : no one walks the same, even in the army (the rythm is the only common criteria). The way you write can be utterly original, although not liked by review...

I agree. Kids are inspiring in that they don't give up something just on its idea : they give it a try, at least.

Grown-up people are more and more often giving up on anything before actually doing something.
