I agree that Asperger's is about much more than being socially awkward. I think the reason that some people may be under this impression is because many of those of us with high functioning autism are good at appearing "normal" with the exception of occasional social awkwardness. |

She had no intent of distributing classified material, and that's what's illegal. What was the actual harm caused? Nothing as far as we know. There may be some statutes for which that is true, but intent to distribute the material to unauthorized persons is not required under subsection (f)(1) of 1... |

Welcome to WP! I largely agree with the people expressing concerns about pushing your son too far forward too fast. There's no rush. Your son may be highly intelligent, but, if he has autism, that intelligence probably won't automatically translate into social prowess or even academic success. I als... |

But of course, the newsIdiots will focus on this one guy maybe possibly having ASD (two, counting Adam Lanza) and talk as though it is a major attribute of spree killers. The fact that there are maybe 3 million autistic Americans, if you go with the 1 in 100 figure, who are peaceful, mostly law-abi... |

If gun bans worked, then why have almost all mass shootings in the U.S. in the past few decades occurred in places where guns are completely banned? I call BS. Name five mass-shootings that took place in a place where guns are completely banned. First off guns are not completely banned any place in... |

Why is Mexico, where civilian ownership of guns is banned, a war zone with countless murders and shootouts between drug thugs and Mexican authorities? ... |

I will share one of my awful pun jokes: What type of response does a great ruler have to a catastrophe? A measured response. I actually have some pun-based jokes that are decent, but that is not one of them. Phil Dunphy in Modern Family had some hilariously bad jokes prepared for the Southern Califo... |

I'm about 15 years younger than you, but I have never had a romantic relationship or been on a date. I feel like I am missing an important part of the human experience. |

Because a diverse society is a healthy society. Look at all societies and cultures since the dawn of time. The exclusive ones, the ones that have only one viewpoint, have been ultimate failures. We need NTs, and they need us. We are diverse from one another. There are just some neurological qualiti... |

It would be really interesting to have an entire state of autistic people. Would such a society would be more rational, peaceful, and/or compassionate than neuro-typical society? |
