Just to be clear, your 17 year old son was expelled for 3 days because of a sexual request expressed to another boy near his age? I have to ask now, is homosexuality even legal where you live? Because this obviously influences what he will admit to (and thus, can deal with). I see a serious social i...

I'm 26 now, and recognize most of this. I'll try to explain why I rebelled. I was probably a bit worse considering your posts. You have power, but no authority. For power to become authority, it must be recognized as beneficial. For those on the spectrum, that means it must first of all seem logical...

Yes and no. We have a lot of rules. Public transport is relatively clean, modern and on a clear and strict schedule. There are even silence compartments in the trains! While most urban area's are crowded, with a bit of wandering you can find quiet spots easily. Not everybody follows the rules though...

Staying on topic, I deal with the following. Being tired or otherwise burned out, my GF roams the apartment singing, cleaning and listening to music. I can't take that s**t, close the door (usually end up slamming it shut) and ignoring her. Solution? Letting her know I can't deal with so much noise ...

Mutations don't go right the first time round I guess. I certainly plan on reproducing. Considering my parents and girlfriends parents, my child probably won't end up NT. Given a world where information and abstract reasoning dominate our society, we have some significant advantages. Yes, we are fra...

Taken from their web page, the "about" section. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism That part. Since those on the spectrum with at least nor...

I don't have this issue. Other people have this issue. ;) So yes. I find that: If someone is "wrong", they are more easily insulted. If you are direct, but this information offers no direct benefit for someone, this is hurtful/blunt. We require more specific instructions in unknown situations and it...

smoking cannabis can contribute to schizophrenia in some people, but based on my experiance with prozac it seems that could do the same thing to, luckily it only gave me temporary psychosis like symptoms. Cannabis is what i had to use to stay calm enough not to do anything stupid from the prozac ef...

Well, Autism Speaks is controversial (thankfully, not just here). But it's also a US based, donation driven organisation. If any interested party suspects vaccinations trigger autism (unlikely*, but hey, smoking pot can trigger schizophrenia!) and would somehow be unable to stop this research (since...

Hell yes I wish there was a cure. Well there is a cure if you do drugs but I don't recommend that; drinking alcohol and doing pot made me feel normal. I like my high IQ. I definitely feel like I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it. But it sucks having Asperger's. It really does. I wish I wa...

Does the  mean you believe the collection was sabotaged by an autistic person, as those on the spectrum are known for their attention to detail? If the collection was sabotaged, then yes, I would say it is highly likely. Consider the owner and purpose. I have Aspergers. My immune systems work...

I would say, from both this thread and my personal experience, the choice depends on what you can deal with in terms of social interaction. I like teaching. Pretty frigging good at it too. I could explain a baby quantum physics, assuming I would understand quantum physics and the baby understood Dut...

I thought the same for several years. Doing 1st year of uni now, civics/social studies teacher. Pretty much applied philosophy + faking emotional resilience to a bunch of kids. I found that being able to apply knowledge was more important then the amount of knowledge. Though the stereotype of rememb...

I then get impatient at how slow the lessons go and my teacher gets angry because 'I'm bein...
