So, not too long ago, I got involved with someone who I'm 99% sure is also on the spectrum (although she's not too keen on the suggestion). This isn't the first time I've dated another aspie but this seems to be a far better match than previous experiences. For the first time in my life I feel like ...

I've found running the brown noise from this site at night really helpful. In fact I often have it on during the day as it makes me more calm when I'm at my computer. http://simplynoise.com/ It did take me a couple nights to get used to having the sound in the background though but its a lot easier ...

I did basically zero crawling. My mom told me it seemed like I really didn't like the way surfaces felt when I tried so I didn't and when I got sick of being stuck in one place, finally went straight to walking/falling down

Writing things out can definitely help, especially if when trying to talk things get emotional. However, its also easy for people to miss-understand what you write so it does open up some additional possibilities if you aren't clear in your writing. There are a good number of people on this board wh...

I don't know if I should watch the video, just reading the article about it on Yahoo made me so angry I had to get up and walk away from my computer.

Oh god, I was like a puppy dog as a kid I wanted a pat on the head all the time, its only gotten gradually better as an adult. The thing is that's what got me through school because that desire to be recognized/rewarded by teachers was enough to keep me focused to do work despite being very hyperact...

I dont mean at a glance, but my experience has usually been from overhearing conversations or from interacting with someone a few times.

"- Am I being unreasonable? Was my boyfriend actually annoying?" Its a little hard to tell without knowing the whole story, but it sounds like the hostile guy is really the one with the problem here. I've seen people flip out about a few things like that before, often they have their own psychologi...

@Cyonce, Why waste resources on people that want to stay ignorant? ;), you know your area of expertise. Find people that you can learn from instead or interact with in a meaningful way. I played it that way for many years but at a certain point I decided I'd rather take the effort required to follo...

I've had this experience many times, some of it at least does seem to be due to the way I present myself or talk about things. I know that I definitely sometimes come across as a know-it-all. Part of the problem is that even on subjects that I am in fact an authority on from scads of research, I usu...

I've noticed for most of my life I've been very aware when someone else was significantly not NT. They really stand out to me, these days its almost like they glow, its really weird. It used to really scare the crap out of me when i was younger. I didn't even really understand NTs very well, when so...

I've been like that my entire life... I'm now 51! I recognise the face in the mirror but it has never been 'me' it is just the body that I inhabit. I spend so much time "living in my head" that I sort of forget I have a physical dimension and body. I have had many more minor versions of the initial...
