I certainly feel jealous / left out in the Aspergers category, because I don't have any real talents or passions. I failed in jobs. I do not have a significant other. I am not peacefully "alone". I need human contact, but my efforts are frustrated by the multiple rejections I receive. I get SEVERE d...

I have a few questions for those of you who are completely alone (no friends, family or significant other nearby).... 1). If you are able to tolerate being totally alone in the world, how do you cope with adversity? (I've always felt that this would be the single biggest challenge to face if I end u...

How many out there feel like you are prisoner in your own mind. Do you ever find yourself longing to be able to emotionally connect with another person but just can't no matter what you do. If you where ever granted one wish. Would you find that that is what you would wish for more then anything el...

I feel that my negativity and attention to detail often scares others. I say it as I see it. I don't put a sugarcoat on things. The attention to detail further scares others because it makes me seem obsessive (guess).

I find social interaction exhausting, particularly 1 on 1. The reason it is so tiring is because I have to make a lot of effort to think of appropriate things to say.

Can you list things that make you deeply unhappy, that you feel is the source of your misery (if you are indeed miserable), that you've been unable to share w/ others due to a possible verbal backlash or stigma? Are there things that make you unhappy about this world, that you are ashamed to tell ot...

But isn't a main draw of Wrong Planet to provide social connectedness and understanding that isn't otherwise easily found? Because with the right people, connecting is possible, and it feels very good. But granted, this can be very hard to find, let alone hold onto for any length of time. Very hard...

Living on your own with no contacts is hard but not impossible; many people do it when they move to a new city/state/country where none of their family lives close-by and they don't know anyone. I would agree with this to a point. The difference is that with Aspergers, you end up being perpetually ...

There is a lot of hype out there about how close social relationships are correlated with happiness. People who have more friends / close connections are happier. Thus, even those of us on the spectrum are encouraged to try interacting with people, in the hopes that we will gain social skills and me...

Are you grossed out by things other people wouldn't be grossed out by - or do certain things give you a sense of disgust or revulsion? I have a list of things that are unusual, that give me the creepy-crawlies/disgust/aversion: 1). Being on a cellphone in a public stall, when someone else is also us...

I have Asperger Syndrome and have had numerous people, both in the professional realm and outside, tell me that I should not give up trying to make social connections. Ok, I've lived long enough to know that when I try, I succeed temporarily and then ultimately fail. Then when tough times come, I ge...

I did, and found, even the ones who equalled me academically (I'm only average) OUTDID me in all aspects of life. For example, I googled one classmate that was very unpopular in elementary school and only "average" academically - he's a well-known attorney! Another classmate was quite homely looking...

I've had numerous situations in which I could swear I was being rejected by someone, only to inquire and to get reassurance that the person wasn't rejecting me at all. For example: they didn't email back. Found out they were in the hospital. However, there was no way to verify that because it was an...

I am literally incompatible with everyone else (even though, theoretically there may be someone in the universe that I'll never meet). I've tried dating people no one would ever date. Usually, this meant that the person approached me first (smelly, missing teeth, etc), but eventually they didn't for...

Actually I've found the opposite to be true...that raising my standards has yielded better success. Lowering standards does help to get dates, sure...but they are dates with people that you aren't really attracted to or interested in. So in the end, other than the little amount of experience gained...
