I definitely do, because in some ways, I don't present the "classic" ASD traits, so like some of the others in this thread, I wonder if it's really ASD or a combination of other factors that, when combined, very closely mimic ASDs. And yet, if you were to give me the DSM-V definition and a...

I have issues with appropriate volume—sometimes I speak too loudly, other times too softly. As for my accent, I've lived in California my whole life, but others have told me that I sound like I come from elsewhere in the US. One person told me I have "no accent."

I was aware that I was a little different from a fairly young age—maybe it was when other kids my age were interested in "normal" kids stuff while I drew traffic signals—but I never really thought too much of it until I was in my 20s and started learning about ASDs. I think I'm just more a...

I dislike uncertainty insofar as I dislike not knowing exactly what's expected of me (e.g. if I'm asked to do something at work), and I dislike going into certain social situations when I don't know what's going to happen. I don't like not knowing how to respond to situations.

I avoid sandals and flip-flops for mostly practical reasons: I don't want debris to get stuck under my feet and I want shoes that will stay on my feet as I walk around. Aside from that, I have flat feet, so I can't wear shoes that have arch supports. I usually wear skate shoes most of the time since...

Sometimes I talk to myself, but I'm not actually talking directly to myself. What I mean is, I'm often quoting something I like (usually a video, movie or show), especially something I've seen recently. This is actually what I do more often than I just talk to myself, though I do both. For example,...

I do the slouching/no arm-swinging/looking-at-the-ground thing when I walk. I have no idea why; it just feels most comfortable. I don't know if there's an "autistic walk," per se, but all the material on ASDs I've read suggests that an "awkward gait" (whatever that means) is common. "Common," of cou...

Haircuts are annoying, and I only get them when I can no longer tolerate my hair. It's out of my routine (and therefore easy to put off), the social aspects are uncomfortable, and even though you describe how you want it or show a photo, you never quite know what you're going to get. I last had it c...

Reactions I get tend to vary wildly, from "I knew that for a while" and "You're definitely quirky" to "you're just trying to find something wrong with yourself."

I don't really try to suppress them; the only thing I do is I try to go with less obvious ones if I'm on sitting directly next to someone. My mom would scold me over my constant leg-jigglingand how it would disturb others.

I am not double-jointed, but I am fairly limber, as are a number of others in my family. I have a couple family members who are also somewhat double-jointed.

Speaking for myself, it's a mix of things: part lack of interest, part sluggish social processing (my mind goes blank even though I'm not anxious), part not knowing I'm expected to show interest. This bit describes my experiences well (from http://www.dudeimanaspie.com/2011/09/suspend-disbelief.html...

I don't mind it if it's just a few licks, but I can't stand dogs that won't stop licking. My sister's dongs are like that--once they start licking they won't stop unless you shove them away. It's a bit much.

Not sure if anyone here watched Wheel of Fortune Thursday night, but... An Arizona man who survived nine brain surgeries, one open heart surgery and has Tourette syndrome, as well as Asperger syndrome, is a viral star after his “smashing” run on “Wheel of Fortune.” http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entert...

Below is what I do (“double crossing” my legs). Please note, this is only an example. I am a guy…and my legs don’t look like that! LOL. http://images1.43places.com/entry/549215pw150.jpg When I was 11, I remember another kid pointing out how I sat "like a girl." Up until that point I didn't realize ...
