* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time) Now that is interesting. I first came to Australia at the age of te...

If you want to learn about Hitler then you might start here. [edited by Sallamandrina] If you want to read "Mein Kamph" to find out what Hitler REALLY thought and said then go here. [edited by Sallamandrina] But be aware. If you start down that path there is no turning back. You will learn things th...

Thoughts on the Royal Wedding. With all the worry about terrorists and protesters, will the royal couple and the royal family arrive in open top carriages or bullet proof cars? Remember a few weeks ago when protesters were rocking and smacking the car containing Charles and Camilla, yelling "off wit...

When you were fifteen years of age, what did you think about dating? As a boy, when I was 15 I was so frustrated that sheep were starting to look good! I might have become Gay if I knew what Gay was in those days. The girls in your class are taller and more developed than you are and interested in ...

There is a woman that I see at church a lot that I am trying to work up the nerve to ask her out. For a start, forget the word "date". She goes to your church so it is not like she is a stranger. She knows who you are. Look for an excuse to get into a conversation that she is part of. Then say "Tha...

I think it is a matter of communication and respect. One person will feel deeply about an issue that the other person sees as trivial and not worth bothering about. I remember some Dr Phil episode where a woman was ready to divorce her husband because he dropped his wet bath towel on the bedroom flo...

Perhaps you just don't want to mow the lawn or weed the garden. :D

roadGames, Dude, you are having sex with a girl which is more than most of the guys here can say. You know you are not going to marry her and build a life together, so why worry about the details? These are the best days of your life. This is the time you will fondly recall when you are fat and fift...

I wonder how accents develop. You can tell an Australian but you can't easily tell where he came from by his accent. Yet New Zealanders have a noticeable accent where "fish and chips" comes out as "fush and chups" and "six" becomes "sex". So how did such a young country settled mostly by English and...

My father-in-law was a master of small pleasures. Give him a cup of tea and a cookie and he would treat it like a Japanese tea ceremony. He would feel the warmth of the cup and the aroma of the tea. He would savor the first sip and the first bite of the cookie. When he walked down the street he real...

I can guarantee that anyone who "loves" snow doesn't come from an area where there is snow for six months of the year. Slush, ice. Your car being a huge white mound. Your driveway having two feet of snow on it. Rubber overshoes. You can't go anywhere because the snow plow has not been down your road...

I'm not into hugging. (Especially blokes) but I could manage a pat on the shoulder or a manly mock punch in the ribs if that would help. :D

As you probably know, we Americans mimic British ones often, so I wonder if they mimic ours in England. Did you know that a lot of American words, expressions and pronunciations are more English than the English? For example the Appellation "hillbillies" settled there in the time of Queen Elizabeth...
