Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Do you "cling"?

This is kinda related, but I constantly feel like I respond to text messages, etc. too fast. Like I'll send someone a text, they'll reply about 3-4 mins later, but I'll reply right away, within a minute. Does this seem clingy to people? I was just wondering, because I never seem to get replies that ...

I am new to understanding what all my Aspergers affects. For a long time, I just thought that I was lazy because I would never get started on projects till late, couldn't organize any kind of activity with a friend, and I couldn't even clean up after myself. Now I know that these problems are probab...

The euphemism my boss used was 'lacks a sense of urgency'. It was a polite way of saying I was lazy and slow.

All of the above is sage, sound advice. On a more practical note, I've found that if I limit the amount of news coverage I expose myself to, I don't feel so bad. I usually limit myself to NPR in the car, and checking out Google News once or twice a day. If I am bored, I try and find feature pieces o...

Here's an insight that I have only recently been able to come to: if someone doesn't bother to do something because they are lazy, they don't feel bad about not doing it. You are obviously broken up about your limits- you are not lazy. This is probably the worst part about AS: to other people, you j...

I'm going to write to Alex and tell him to change the name "Wrong Planet" to "Suicide Central." My goodness! I've never seen a site with such an intense collection of depressives! Is everyone on here on Elavil or Prozac or Valium? I think the common thread among us all on here is the lack of flesh-...

Thank you I know I'm not alone a person with AS also with psychosis/affective i am afraid of a diagnosis I actually want a diagnosis. I want to know what problems stem from my condition, and what are run of the milll ups and downs. I'm overwhelmed right now, there is literally no aspect of my life ...

I know what you mean. I'm just so exhausted in mulling over my mental problems, I keep rehashing the same thing over and over. It's just a constant, gray, cycle. I don't even have the energy to contemplate suicide, all that does is get me worked up even more. All I feel is that I have to stay alive....

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten inappropriately angry at inanimate objects. Especially cars/vehicles that don't behave. But I wouldn't feel too embarrassed about it, its not like you pushed one of those kids down the embankment (btw hope your machine is ok). I think that you needed to ge...

I really just want to avoid all social contact for a while. I hadn't realized before all of this just how really at sea I was. I just thought that maybe I was a little shy, and sometimes said things that were off the wall, but otherwise I was ok and fun to hang out with. I was wrong- and only now am...

If you think its bad now, I could have sworn that New Years was a couple weeks ago. 2006 seems like it was last fall. As you get older, time goes faster. When you're 8, each year is an entire 1/8th of your life. When you're 22, a year is only 1/22nd of your life. Time does fly, my 20s are completely...

I posted about my current social catastrophe here http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt197785.html Because of the above social disaster, I have lost all of the friends I made in law school over the past year. Today I started a summer class that lasts from 9-4 every day this week. Today was the first day ...

Yea I do that a lot. It does annoy people. Usually, I'll just say 'I don't know'. It's hard to tell when people are speaking rhetorically, and Im usually just excited that I am able to think of something to say that I forget to do a mental check before I speak.

I worked with a guy who gave the ladies in the office the creeps. I do think he had undiagnosed Aspergers (I'm pretty confident about it). Here are some of the things that he did, which caused us all to feel like that: - On his first day at work, he took a framed photo from his briefcase and placed...

I don't understand why they feel apsergers would need to simply be renamed some grade of autism. And the article I read quoted the head of the group proposing that specific change as saying 'a lot of people who identify as aspergers don't have the condition'. To me, that implies an attitude that doe...
