Hi! I recently read a document, from the CDC no less, that states when Immuno-Globulin (IVIG) is given to treat Kawasaki Disease/Syndrome (KD) that the MMR shot should not be given for 11 months, and the Varicella not for 5 months. My son had IVIG in May 1995 for Kawasaki Disease and then the MMR va... |

Let's keep in mind that being Autistic (I am myself, as are my two young adult kids) causes us to tend to believe what's being said even when it's a blatant lie. I'm not saying that anyone is blatantly lying (meaning the candidates) but (for those of you who are old enough - I don't know the general... |

Hi Muziek! Yep, I'm diagnosed with both. ;) I'm curious… What is "inside stimuli"? I'm sure it's something I should know right off the bat but I don't… ;) Thank you!! Diane lol you know what's funny… That we're talking about short-term memory problems and yet we can remember having the sho... |

Okay All, here's another… Recently I've been pondering over my short-term memory difficulties (very short term such as when I'm talking, get briefly distracted, and then forget what I was talking about) thinking it's because I'm getting old (which I'm sure has something to do with it) ;) until I sta... |

Everyone has hidden stuff at some point, and success in life depends largely upon being aware of this and being able to read it somehow, at least some of it. If that in your opinion makes everyone else guilty and makes you distrustful, so you prefer to ignore this fact about human interaction and t... |

Hi Moondust! Love your user name!! :) I too am over 50 (barely thank goodness!) ;) and wasn't diagnosed until last year or the one before, after it had been 10+ years since my son (now 21) was diagnosed. I appreciate your outlook on what I posted here. :D In this particular case I wonder if "tr... |

Hi! My son, daughter, I, and my soon-to-be-ex husband are all on the spectrum at various points. I've been pondering something and am curious as to what others think about it: Is it possible that rather than lacking common sense (which has a negative connotation), instead we lack the instinct and in... |

My son has very bad, very tiny, printed (as opposed to cursive) writing that is difficult to read but he thinks he has terrific writing, will even come show me "how good his writing is". [Not] He's 20 years old by the way. He was diagnosed with Asperger's at 12 years old but should have diagnosed be... |

Here's a copy and paste of some results of a study of kids (including siblings) with and without Kawasaki Disease (KD): The KD group attained higher behavioural scores [note from Diane: "higher behavioral scores" in this case means "worse" behaviors] within the internalising sub-categories of somat... |

Hi All! I've been doing more research and it appears that there may be a link. It has something to do with they're not supposed to have any vaccines (especially the MMR and chicken pox) any sooner than 11 months after Kawasaki has been treated. My son, after being quite ill for some time, was finall... |

Boy, it can truly be so confusing sometimes. I love your suggestions, thank you! :D Maybe that's why there's literally no convincing him or getting him to understand or anything. No matter how I try to talk to him or explain how something happened I get "blasted" back with something about the person... |

skibum, my son has lashed out verbally (via Facebook) quite a few times at the few guys in his circle. Every single time he's apologized afterward because he feels totally awful about it and every time they've been extremely gracious and told him it's okay don't worry about it they understand, etc. ... |

I just wanted to mention that the type of rumination I'm used to seeing is an angry rumination, a slight (or perceived slight) having been done to them in the past that they can't get over. I can understand the "being fake" if letting it go, my son feels the very same way. He feels he'd be being dis... |

This is referred to as rumination. Many people on the spectrum ruminate about unhappy things that they experienced that happened last week, last month, last year, ten years ago, and they relive the pain all over again, every single time they ruminate over it. It's a very difficult thing to beat, if ... |
