Autistic mother of two here. I wouldn't be able to carry out raising more without serious impact on mental health of us all. It's exhausting enough the way it is. I'm lucky to have a loving husband with whom I have great contact and no real financial problems. Otherwise... when my younger child was...

I am an ADHD and ASD therapist. It's a beautiful job but very demanding. I see on average 7 to 8 clients a day, 50 minute sessions on an 8 hour work day. I'm exhausted when the day is done :skull: Anyone else working in the field? 7-8 patients a day is too much even for an NT therapist!! ! ! ! ! Ar...

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I don't work in the mental health field myself, but I would like to call your attention to an organization you might not be aware of: the Association of Neurodivergent Therapists , based in the U.K., founded in spring 2021. As far as I am aware, this is t...

I absolutely detest foundation. How can anyone have it on their face the entire day? The idea of having paint on my face just freaks me out. All of the other make up I am less fussy about, though I rarely go for a full face of make up. Eyebrow pencil is a must for and it does not cause sensory issue...

I break tasks down into smaller parts and that works. And I mean really small parts. I also have my checkpoints around the house. For example if I need to carry clothes upstairs I will first put them on the stairs, then when I actually need to go up I take them along with me to the next checkpoint. ...

I find most of them to be honest. I also like that most of them (sweeping generalization, I know) are introverted and are able to listen before they respond. There is something about other autistic people that makes it very easy to let my guard down around them.

I used to do work in that field. I didn't have any degrees or anything, but I got quite a lot of certifications on the job which had to be regularly renewed. It was a very demanding, but rewarding job.

Ah, may I ask why you stopped?
