A great, pioneering and classic band. "Venus in Furs" is probably my favorite track by them. I like the first two albums the most.

I have used 1&1 (1and1.com) for several years and have always been happy with them. Never had any problems and they offer a lot of features. They will do both domain registration and hosting. Also they have some tools that come with some of the packages to easily build a website if you don't wan...

AKLO is pretty good - I picked up one of their CDs at the H.P. Lovecraft film festival last year. It seems there are a lot of different directions taken by Lovecraft-inspired music, from comical to seriously creepy atmospheric stuff. I tend to like the dark ambient and metal side of it. Anyone readi...

One of my all-time favorite bands. I grew up listening to them and they were one of the first bands I truly got obsessive about. Jimmy Page is an incredible guitarist and arranger / producer. Even though a lot of the songs and riffs borrow heavily from old blues musicians I think he brought them to ...

I remember seeing this thread months ago and planning to reply - but of course I procrastinated about it.

Anyway - yeah I can definitely relate to this problem. It is really sad how many things I've planned for in my life that are undone or unfinished.

I use a Dell Inspiron e1705 for gaming (purchased about a year ago) and it has performed quite well. It is not as high-end as an XPS but handles plenty of newer games just fine and the price was much more reasonable. Vanguard is a notoriously resource-hungry next-gen MMORPG and it plays that fine. A...

Spore is what I look forward to most. If they can pull it off I think it will be revolutionary. I just wish the art style wasn't so cartoony / cutesy but I kind of understand why they did that.

Age of Conan looks promising too.

It looks like the bad outweighs the good on SL, and I do get sucked into things easily... maybe I'll just avoid it for now. Thanks for the advice I've been involved with SL since the public beta in 2003, and my opinion is the bad does not outweigh the good. The thing is that "bad stuff" gets much m...

Thank you all for your continued posts - the advice is really appreciated and I am trying to impliment some of it. Except I would not want to be mean to them - I don't think that will help anything. I understand that listening is really important and I have in the past sat and listened for hours on ...

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful and helpful replies. I'm sorry I didn't respond until now. Well my friend seems a little bit better now - I think there is a faint glimmer of hope within them now. We went to see their psychiatrist and the psychiatrist prescribed a new med which seems to be hel...

I'm really starting to wonder if I am in the wrong. Is suicide justified in some situations? I feel like it can be with terminal illness but emotional / relational things could always change. What can I possibly do to help them? Or what can I say that would help? I am at my wits end about this. is ...

Someone very dear to me whom I love very much is extremely suicidal right now. This depression / hopelessness they are having has been building up for a long time to a point where now the emotional pain they are suffering is unbearable and they see suicide as the only way out. I have tried everythin...

I'd probably kill myself limited to one album. But barring that, Pink Floyd's MEDDLE. Floyd's Meddle is a great choice - nice wide range of moods on that one (dark, angry, idyllic, cosmic, dreamlike...), and Floyd is timeless. But yeah I'd find it nearly impossible to choose just one album... maybe...

Alex Grey is pretty open about his past use of psychedelic drugs. He speaks about it when discussing his work and how particular trips influenced some of his art. I don't know if he does it anymore or even advocates it but it definitely was a component of his visionary experiences in the past. Anywa...

I'm guessing a lot of musicians take care of this with alcohol but this may or may not be an option for various reasons. I can definitely relate to this issue. I always dream of playing live (I only played live once to a very small audience) but wonder how I'd manage the whole crowded club thing. I ...
