It does not matter a lick whether the president is a man or woman. What would matter is whether he or she would keep selling us out to the corporations, stamping on our civil rights, wasting billions of dollars, tearing a new one to the poor and middle class, and doing it all with a million-dollar g...

Do you think that perhaps having an effective freedom of movement to go work in one of the largest and wealthiest nations on earth right next door might have something to do with it? I fail to see how being situated next to a rich country like the USA causes a reduction in legal unemployment for Me...

There is no defensible reason why marijuana should be illegal. Marijuana prohibition creates the greater evil. It creates a dangerous black market, like alcohol prohibition during the Great Depression. It keeps people from making their own decisions about what they choose to put in their bodies. It ...

No, why would I try to refute that? It's utterly-irrelevant to the thread, which is asking if it's justifiable to make a categorical declaration about 7+ billion humans. It isn't. It can be sometimes. For example: Anyone who eats fewer calories than they expend over a significant timeframe will los...

Another way weight ranges based on height may be calculated is by mortality findings. For example, the range of weights of the people of that height who had the lowest risk of death in a given time period, on average. Very difficult to extricate weight from other variables, though- see the "Why do ...

As for your other question:  Over 9,000 Murders by Gun in US; 39 in UK That is absolutely not an answer to my question. I did not ask what the raw numbers (unadjusted for any factors, by the way  ) of gun homicides were in the US vs. UK. I asked something along the lines of, "In which ...

Please don't feel so bad. There is a very good chance that you will be loved and you may have good things occur to you in the future. Don't get discouraged. So many people I know (myself included) have had extremely, extremely unlikely bad things happen to us. All that is there is to push through. I...

I think I kind of straddle some lines. In school as a kid, I was extremely uncharismatic. I was hated by almost everyone. In my defense, the people I went to school with were total jerks and were very intolerant and unkind people. Now as a young adult in college, I am reasonably popular. I have been...

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a video game very much that didn't get good reviews overall. My opinion on games is actually pretty close to mainstream opinion. An exception could be "love it or hate it" type games, in which actually...I think they're usually "okay" or "fun" or if I'm in a good mood...

If you turn the argument around from "we need to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people" to "we need to keep people we know to be dangerous away from guns" then you get a whole different mentality. Guns aren't the evil mass-murdering things of destruction - the people who use them to kill p...

"A gun is not a weapon, Marge, it's a tool. Like a butcher knife, or a harpoon, or... or an alligator." And not all guns are designed primarily to kill a human, or kill anything for that matter. There pistols, rifles, and shotguns that are of little use outside of a tournament. And guess what... mo...
