code.. I have trouble writing long complex programs and staying organized. I understand exactly what I'm doing but I can't explain how I get overwhelmed and sometimes can't complete my work. I took me very long to grasp concepts in software like advanced pointers. I can't explain how my brain drifts...

Why do people put such value on friendships?

I know I don't. I work a crappy job, have never had a girlfriend and have never had sex, so no kids. At my age (38) that makes me not able to find others I can socialize with. Add to that that I work a working class job but talk like I have a PHD and have interests not shared with others around me ...

No one calls me or cares if I live or die. The only friend I had in HS my mom made for me. Romantic relationships aside, I realize now I never had one friendship in my entire life.

I have both AS and ADHD and I'm clueless with social situations plus I get distracted very easily, making it worse. IMO, the two make each other worse and also better; my ADHD pretty much makes it nearly impossible to carry out obsessions with any consistency which makes it easier on my hubby and f...

Uh yeah, because there's no such thing as STDs. Should we all live entirely sexless and repressed lives due to the fear of STDs? Life in general has risks. Sexual activity is no different. You simply need to weigh up the risks that are right for you. Many people are somewhere in between - i....

I am a 41 yo virgin. I think my problem is more social avoidance and awkwardness. Looks? Dunno...there are people fatter and uglier than me with wives. People are surprised I'm always single. I never had any MALE friends(so that is a clue there). Never socialized in college. Only relationship I had ...

I think for extremely gifted programmers C is probably a good choice. You have to be an ace at pointers (which can be daunting even for experienced programmers) and grapple with things like variable length strings. Take a look at the rich string library in a language like .net or PHP. You could spen...

Can you socialize at all? Beyond greetings? I know the idea sounds torturous but if you can get past greetings then move on to the weather maybe then things might get easier. Actually yes, the problem is approaching people, inserting myself into social settings, talking to people, making friends. I...

I guess my level of romantic frustration has just reached this point. I just wish that I had no romantic or sexual attraction whatsoever, just so it woul...

Well, being a virgin (and never even spent a night with a woman) at my age pretty much acts as a confidence grounding shunt. I feel like the weight of a car is sitting on top of me.

Is it possible to be truly happy when you have a disability, I have mild AS and my life is not happy at all. It seems like to me we were given the short end of the stick with more bad than good. We are just gonna be picked on all our lives and die lonely and sad. Is there anyone with AS who is inde...

Do they have higher rates of suicide? I do think of suicide a lot as I get older and see how hopeless and I am and opportunities lost but I don't think I would actually do it. I look at life as a prison sentence -eventually everyone is released - some sooner, some later. Suicide is an escape attempt.

I never tried to trick anyone into thinking I'm smart. When you are in 4th grade in the 1970s and just mention the word "microprocessor" you are going to be labeled.
