It goes with ADHD so I don't see why it couldn't go with AS: lots of negative experiences that arise from having AS, and feeling "wrong" all the time, turn into defiance.
Apart from that, the symptoms of AS could be misinterpretted as OD/CD. Sure would think "conduct disorder" fits the bill

The thing is, it isn't a normal part of life, although it may seem so to you. You have to find the motivation to stop. Find something else - healthy - that gives you a kick. You know full well that what you are doing is so so wrong for you and your baby. I don't have to tell you that. So for your ow...

It interests me, too. The schools are a new thing here, too, and we had to fight hard to get them! I always thought the options were few, but public in Scandinavia, and many, but private in the States - I'm thinking early intervention ect. As for staying at home - in this country all women work - an...

There was quite a hyped debate a while back.... IMO depends on the kid, and the school. Living in Scandinavia, my son goes to a school for kids with AS or HFA. The classes are small, and his learning style, strenghts an weaknesses are respected. As a working Mum, I am gratefull he has a school he lo...

My advice is wait a year.... too early to tell for sure. At 17 months, all my boys, who are "real boys", were pretty uncontrollable at times. One has ADHD, the othet two don't. What I'm saying is that it is good to notice these things, but that it is too early to tell. My 2 non-ADHD boys turned out ...

Maybe you were trying too hard. I wouldn't have gotten through 3 hours of crying, but picked her up, and started over again when she was tired/had settled down. Maybe it's cultural differences.
We all shout sometimes, parenting can be frustrating...

How old are they? I started with letting them sit with a plastic bowl they could vomit in. I placed them on towels to avoid too much mess. I told them to stay put. When they got the idea of not just doing it on the floor, it was easier for them to use the toilet. But it is quite hard to control vomi...

I am going to try the stealing/ social story on the other side of New Year. have to get my act together! Tough love may work for some kids, but never has worked for this little guy. Could it be he is overwhelmed? My son can't chose what to play with if there are too many choices. So he gets to chose between two things (for example nintendo or drawing). You can even make one of the options really rotten, so the choice is easier.... What also works for my son is making a written ...

My son has started to steal food from other peoples plates, even forks 8O He steals what he finds irresistable for example meatballs, and it causes total havoc as we try to overman him to get it back before he stuffs it into his mouth - usually we're not fast enough. Mayhem and chaos.... Sending him...
