I have been a regular on this site for almost a decade now. Doubting ones own professional diagnosis is fairly common. You always have a right to seek a second opinion. You should discuss your doubts clinician who diagnosed you. I was diagnosed at 50 with Asperger's. I am married with 2 kids and wo...

Anyone Else Is Obsessed With Covid-19 News And Statistics?

Unfortunately, yes. I suppose it has become a special interest. I find myself checking the statistics multiple times a day. Plus, I watch cable news, particularly listening to expert doctors (epidemiologists, mostly) discuss the virus.

I had a limited social life pre-Covid (I have very few friends).

With Covid, my social life is essentially non-existent.

After watching ~ 15 minutes of this video, I am now curious what part of the original mission do doubters believe is real (and, likewise, what part is fake)? Generally, I am skeptical of these "conspiracy theories" -- especially those that would involve the collusion of so many. As the rea...

Some of these responses really make me think how many people would not realise they were autistic if them came from a better home? How much does a bad home environment exacerbate the difficulties of autism? For me had my family been more supportive I think I would have a decent semi normal life, re...

I realized that something was “off” when I was quite young. Yet, I always figured that I would “outgrow” this difference (of fitting in, of having normal relationships, etc.). In elementary school, I figured that this was simply a “phase” and things would change after I entered middle school. In mid...

Is there anyone here that has been diagnosed very late and surprised? I was diagnosed at age 50, after I stumbled upon this “thing” called Asperger’s. I was surprised by my high score and borderline autistic because I am a full functioning and productive person but looking back now I understand why...

I love sweets as well.

Me as well. Oftentimes, more. Another one of my obsessions. Sigh.

Autistics tending to the extremes seems to be the main theme. My sweet teeth is really strong.

This applies to me. I am 6'0 and ~ 142 lbs. After I was diagnosed with Asperger's (at age 50), I realized that I probably have an eating disorder. Apparently, this is not that uncommon <click>.

For me, I find "non-structured" conversations very tiring. I always have a difficult time thinking of something to talk about. I don’t mind speaking to someone who has knowledge/information that interests me. Typically, this "conversation" becomes more like an "interview&quo...

I generally enjoy participating in conversations, but I often have the problem that I can't come up with anything meaningful to say. I tend to quickly run out of topics and when that happens I get very uncomfortable because I can't stand that awkward silence (when it's just one person and me). This...

A lot of kids go through a phase where they bang their head. It's considered somewhat normal toddler behavior.

When I was a baby/toddler, I used to do bang my head more often than my parents would like to see me to. From all accounts I was used to smash it very hard "for no reason" (their words). My youngest daughter, when she was a baby/toddler, used to bang her head on the floor whenever she had...
