The breed doesn't say anything. Any dog can do anything. My dog, Tessie, is half husky but doesn't have much energy at all. Plus she barks once a year, jumps no more than once a month (and even then only on full-grown adults) and is well-behaved and listens to all of her commands. I met her six mont...

Use the way my dad told me: list the positives related to the autism first, explain how some events he remembers show he might have had it, and tell him he's exactly the same: he's just got a new vocabulary word to describe himself.

I'm getting ready to self-publish a fantasy book called Raleigh. I'm in the middle of writing the next one in the series. Although two of the characters show slight autistic traits, neither is fully on the spectrum.

Sadly, I'm not a visual thinker. This test is not accurate for all autistic individuals. But on my second go, I was still able to get 1/5.

I know, I know, I'm only a teenager. But writing is the only way for me to get my true emotions out. Lately, I've been attempting to write the story of a twelve-year-old girl who's obsessed with words and numbers. Normally, I wouldn't have any trouble writing this...but she can't speak, either. In s...

After recent research, I have found that I meet all the necessary requirements for savant syndrome. I can have extreme difficulty in communicating my thoughts, along with weekly hyperactivity bouts. But at the same time, I am well-known around school for knowing five verses of the Iliad, one of the ...

Yes, I will. I plan on becoming a Civil War historian, so that my love/obsession will be satisfied.

I wish my school had one. Growing up, I've never had the opportunities that I need. Never studied except in Spanish class(which I hated anyway) and my grades have never gone below the nineties. In fact, I think they are higher now than ever before. My mom was ready to have me skip both first and thi...

Commonly a minimum of two hours a day after and during school. I'm hyperlexic, too, so I tend to read at around three times the normal speed. A four hundred page book never takes more than two days unless it's of no interest to me.

I voted light, but I tend to be a cross between light and moderate, depending on the characteristics. Grades are super high without studying, but some social impairment that not too many people notice until I start asking questions every five seconds. :)

Barefoot at home. In school, very tight sneakers and Adidas socks--very thin ones that make me feel almost like I'm barefoot. Occasionally, I'll wear socks at home, but that's just when I want to be able to toewalk without my parents complaining. For anyone who far prefers barefoot to socks but need...

Most people who know me say that I have practically no accent. Even though I live in Massachusetts, I say my "r's" normally. However, I can do accents from many different regions of the world, including, English, a distinctly different Scottish and Irish, French, German, Italian, and a slightly less...

Two creepy ones from when I was little. 1) Big Bird was evil, and he was chasing me; and 2) someone popped an orange balloon. That second one came out of my fear of sudden noises--early signs of Aspergers. Where I live, we say or-inge, but I said are-inge for years afterward. I still say it weird so...

Age three: reading. I'm hyperlexic. Age five to eight(officially) and still somewhat: animals. Predictable, understandable animals. My dog got me at least half of my friends. Age eight and up: mythology. Be it Greek or Roman. I hated true fairy tales, but then my teacher read us the Percy Jackson bo...
