I used to be a bit more laid back, but I theorize that because my meds aren't working as well as once before, my natural personality is coming back--which is that I get very angry at even the smallest things. And it's because I am so sensitive it's like my brain is exposed and people are poking it....

I do this every once in awhile now but used to do it almost everytime I reffered to myself. I trained myself to correct the reference when I speak. Thank u so much for the explination I quoted below. If u don't mind I would like to use this when explaining my brain to others. So often people ask how...

I can relate to this. I have to leave the house to go to appointments for myself but mostly for my 21 month old son. Mostly my husband does the rest of the household running. I used to try because I wanted friends and things to do like everyone else. After awhile I just came to accept that I am not ...

Sorry everyone, just couldn't get back here. My regular psychologist and my primary physician referred me to the neuropsychologist for testing on my brain to see if everything is working properly or if I needed brain scans, also because my psych wanted a new eval done since it had been 10 or more ye...

Have u gone and taken a whole days worth of tests just to go back for the results and find that they are completely sounding nothing like u, or anything any other doc has said. What can I do about getting this eval deleted or discredited or whatever it is I need to do. I am not sure uf this is the r...

Yes, sensory issues are definitely among the things I suffer from that started making me aware that I might have Asperger's. When I was a child I could be easily upset and overwhelmed by noisy, crowded places, and I would have a meltdown. As I grew older, I think I learned how to somehow overcome i...

I used to do some modeling, and now I do some make up artist work. I love the colors and would wear more of it myself but my skin tends to burn when I do, sad face. I would do a lot of make up artist work but I live in a tiny town. :)

I have great difficulty factoring in the thoughts and wishes of the other person as I can't simultaneously hold thoughts about me and them in my mind at the same time - I have to switch back and forth and often i forget to think about them as much as me. I generally model other peoples' mindsets on...

I've ALWAYS been like this, even when working I chose late or night shifts and if I had to work mornings I just didn't sleep as it was easier than if I attempted to sleep/wake early, and I've never been able to change my sleeping patterns. Getting up in the morning normally leads to my being very i...

I live in a very small town in the northern US. We very much look and run like a town right out of a movie portraying life in the 50's, lol. Needless to say awareness of any childhood condition is nil, and tolerance for those who are in anyway different is even less. Seriously people here have threa...

In some cases you may find, as I did, that there is very little feeling of validation, if no-one is interested in the diagnosis. I explained the scenario to my brother, and he changed the conversation. My mother thinks she understood me anyway, but is well off base a lot of the time. Girlfriend, ha...

"Special" started being synonymous with "stupid" about 30 years ago, iirc, at least around here. I'm not aware that "exceptional" has the same connotation, but it might be a local thing or maybe I'm just not up to date. I agree with this, and I also voted yes for this reason. The other reason is be...

Suppose a child was raised by a parent who has been disfigured. When this parent is happy and attempts to 'smile' the corners of the mouth turn downwards in a stereotypical sad face. Alternatively when this parent is sad they smile. Would the child learn to associate smiling with sadness and a down...
