hi vicky :) Well, i detest boston, but i thought i might be interested, didn't make any promises, made the trip. so now i'm in a house in a relatively safe place, with internet access, and am back posting on WP. things with ex-H not going very well, but that's to be expected - we divorced for a reas...

interesting. i don't know the answer to your question. however i have read about the notion of "identity states" which are posited as something we all experience, under the illusion of having a single cohesive identity. it might be that you are more aware of the shift than others. i have not had thi...

i have always been pretty chesty and i think it has contributed to my back problems and poor posture. and finding bras that fit is such an ordeal. i also HAVE to have cotton and cannot stand to wear an underwire, which makes for slim pickin's. i absolute hate wearing them but am not comfortable with...

nah i'm pretty androgynous, to the point that i get mistaken for gay. i like men's clothes and cut my hair short. i like traditionally male interests and activities, e.g., guns, fishing, 4-wheeling, etc. (and computers, video gaming, etc.) I'm somewhat "handy." yet i have no end of interest in the o...

i suggest you read the diagnostic criteria for each of the diagnoses you mention and decide for yourself.

the difference is a particular constellation of symptoms and the degree to which they impact function.

i am very, very sorry to hear of your loss. i've only lost one parent, i was 25, he was 82 (my dad). Died very suddenly of a stroke, but not his first stroke. We were not close, but i was devastated. devastated. i was very lucky in that i was actually working for a hospice at the time and involved i...

i just really like my therapist. since i have so much trouble forming human connections, and she is very kind, and i trust her, i keep her. she's not an aspie expert, but she's very open and listens to me when i bring up such concerns. i don't really need help developing aspie coping skills, i alrea...

sorry you feel bad about yourself for this reason. Personally i think homophobia is a form of insanity. i've always fallen somewhere along the continuum, not at either end. I'm not really gay, but, I do enjoy kissing girls (I am female), just no interest in going further. And I'm enough of a tomboy ...

i like to smoke. sometimes i get really compulsive about it, usually under stress or when i'm in an environment where i can smoke inside the house. right now i smoke 2-5 cigs a day, and i can afford my favorites, Sherman Hint of Mint. I'm pretty happy with that. I've also smoked a pipe. It's very me...

Finished my BA after 13 years upon getting help with severe major depression but no dx/accommodation of A.S. Went back for my MA in English and dropped out, couldn't write my thesis because i was so damned bored with the topic, uninspired to write on anything else. Went back for an MA in Psych and g...

any diagnosis is simply shorthand for a certain constellation of symptoms, usually severe enough to reduce our ability to function to a significant degree. sure, every diagnosable disorder is simply an exaggeration of traits all human beings share, or deficits in certain abilities. but not all share...

i guess i'm open about it. i don't try to hide it, but i don't lead with it, either. it's on a "need to know" basis. most people don't care that much. if they don't like you, they aren't going to change their mind because they know you are aspie (usually). people close to me i've started telling and...

i like the spoon theory, but it is too complicated for most of the people who have been close to me. i keep it simple. Aspie means i 1) have trouble reading between the lines the way "people" normally do 2) i don't get jokes because i'm very literal and 3) lights and sounds and textures and so forth...
