Lately, I've caught myself saying OC-to-PUS, emphasizing the first and last syllables. This then follows with other words with an "oct-" prefix; OC-to-GON, OC-tane. It seems to have carried over from my octopus obsession.

Perhaps they use the term to describe their feelings of loneliness despite the fact that they have friends or a significant other. It may not make them the dictionary definition of a loner, but it's still possible to feel lonely when you're surrounded by people who care.

I know NTs who have never been in a relationship, and as far as I know, nobody chastises them for it. I certainly don't. It doesn't determine your worth as a person.
