Again... its been so long since I've been in an unpreferred social situation... and most of my friends are ones that accepted me quite easily... all my girlfriends have liked me first, and the fact that they liked me always seemed to be a major factor in me liking them back. But I guess I would say ...

My main problem is that I've overthought this to death and can't think of a good way to tell if I [now] simply have a wealth of knowledge about socializing that I can intellectually tap into quickly, or if its instinctual. Another problem is that I avoid any type of social scenario I don't prefer, s...

I wouldn't say I normally want to know about people's social lives. My two roommates (and my only "real" friends) obviously talk about theirs a bit, but I wouldn't say I emotionally connect to those discussions (especially on my end) any more than discussing (or on my part, listening, and socializin...

Thank you! I've found it really hard to try to distinguish between whether or not I am intuitive in social cues/etc. or I intellectualize it. I am tired and need to recharge after socializing, and as for what I do in social situations... that I definitely overthink, consciously throw on facial expre...

I hate carbonation, though I would probably like most of the drinks if they were flat~

when I say mild I mean I don't have "noticeable" and disabling symptoms at intensities that inhibit me, like meltdowns at certain sounds... I do think I have it, and its significant, but I just qualify it with "mild" to try to be as accurate as possible.

So I really thought I had Aspergers (though I got a little compulsive about the idea... so maybe I wasn't being fair), but after a visit with my college counselor, she says Asperger's is unlikely as I don't fit the social criteria for it. I have the other traits [though at a mild level], like compul...

interesting! I might stay for a few minutes. I have a bit of trouble thinking under social pressure too, but my problem is that instead of becoming mute, I more often tend to babble the quickest answer and only later realize how much I didn't think of to say I wish I could have. I need more patience...

Thanks to both of you! and yes, 1&2, maybe. I definitely am absolutely astonishingly horrible at social interaction/communication, and being an english major, writing is my strong suit. Im going to try asking/sending more details about all my symptoms, since I left out like 3/4 of them. I'm at c...

Hey everyone! So today I went to my [college] counselor to talk about Aspergers. Unfortunately, I froze up and didn't talk about most of the symptoms I have– in fact I couldn't think so badly that I literally couldn't think of symptoms to mention like my extreme social anxiety, instead only mumbling...

Would most consider the following Aspie-like special interests/obsessions/rituals? •Play the same song over and over again (sometimes I'll play the whole album) for days/weeks before moving onto a new song. •Only wanting to watch one show at a time (this might be NT/normal): for example, I recently ...

I definitely think I tend not to think of asking people (my "close" friends") about themselves too deeply– however, I tend to focus on asking them questions to keep the conversation going, only rarely inputting my own stories. I, too, tend to see my life as boring, and especially so my interests and...

So....... I'm an un/self-diagnosed Aspie at the moment, and have just read most of Tony Attwood's The Complete Guide to AS, as well as watching a few [dozen] videos online. Basically, my question is about intellectual versus intuitive social skills in a person. I'm fairly certain I'm an Aspie, yet I...

I used to play soft instrumental music on my iPod as I fell asleep, until leaving my iPod on all night drained the battery potential on a couple of them Now I tend to write on my iPod with the brightness down and color inversion on. WhenI'm in bed, even when I'm physically tired, my mind seems just ...

Old book smell! Just smelled an old thesaurus with a rich, nice, gritty smell (that immediately called to my mind the Hobbit, my copy of which smells the same– does this happen to anyone else, or is it just normal? Like if I listen to a certain song a few times while reading a book, when I listen to...
