Putting myself in his shoes, if I poured stuff on my head, it would be for sensory reasons.
If he obeys when you tell him to help dry the floor, why doesn't he obey commands not to dump things on his head? |

I was about your son's age when I was told, though I'd known I had something for quite a while. Honestly, I was hurt my parents waited so long to tell me (not that it caused permanent damage in my relationship with my parents). I'd suggest emphasizing it comes with strengths and weaknesses and does ... |

I've always felt that "autism acceptance" is a vague term. What are we accepting? That it exists? That it's never going to be cured? Our current knowledge of it? I view it as accepting autism as a central part of an autistic person's identity. The term has been appropriated by curitans to... |

-Ableism and curism being looked upon as socially unacceptable by the majority in the same way as racism. -Consequently, organizations with those views will fall into the dustbin of history (Autism $peaks, TACA, NAA, Generation Rescue, etc.) -Abortion and preimplantation genetic diagnosis banned, th... |

Functioning in society as defined is being as NT as possible, many supporters do not see the difference. And there are other ways to stop legitimately bad behavior without making a person a slave to conformity. Society has it's standards some good, but is the world circa 2015 overall a place to be ... |

Absolutely nothing. Maybe it leads to higher thresholds of sensory discomfort, thereby reducing the need for stimming. |

Seems like he was just trying to stop an agonizing sensory overload. Anyone, neurotypical or autistic, might react badly if a cop is causing them pain. I think it's self-defense. This is just one of the many reasons why I think we need a separate education system, not just get shoved into mainstream... |

I do think exercise is important for many of the reasons described, but 3 miles in 25 minutes, carrying a heavy suitcase and backpack? Are you f*****g kidding me? I'd imagine it's hard to be hyperactive when you're broken to the point of exhaustion. |

This is outrageous. Sending kids into the criminal justice system for school infractions doesn't help anyone. |
