I don't think anyone has the right to judge someone else's quality of life. |

Take a look at California-the most populous state: 2 positions available, both Autism Speaks Exec Directors (1 in LA, 1 in NorCal). Fat chance they'll actually hire an autistic person for that. There are currently very few jobs listed. In the 10 most populous states, there are a total of 13 jobs lis... |

AutismOne, an autism quackery conference, will be held at the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel. Kerri Rivera, a proponent of using a bleach-like solution orally and rectally to "cure" autism, will speak on May 23 and there is a protest being organized. This is a great opportunity for any autisti... |

A$ does some good things, but that doesn't make up for all the harm they cause.
That they felt the need to remove their review section is the highlight of my day, probably my week even. |

This is a good initiative. I will say S$ does a few good things, but not enough to get me to start patronizing their sponsors. |

I think the power imbalance here is a big factor. If this was an issue of two complete strangers, I would probably agree 5-20 years is excessive. The abuse of power is was made this so bad. |

She should at least get a few years in prison. A fine, probation, and public apology would be way too light. Abuse is so easy to get away with that when someone is convicted, we need to show unambiguously that we as a society do not tolerate it. |

I don't agree that Alex has sold out to Autism Speaks. For a time, he, along with John Elder and Jack Robison tried to change attitudes from within. This included taking their money for his Autism Talk TV. That money might've otherwise been spent on more hateful rhetoric, cure research, abusive ther... |

It's a very real possibility that he will always be non-verbal. There's nothing wrong with hoping that he becomes verbal, but you and your wife should teach him PECS and/or other AAC so he at least has some means of communication. |

I'm a member of ASAN. As far as having an NT in a leadership role of a local autism advocacy group, I don't really have a problem, as long as autistic people are in the majority of the decision-making body. That said, it would by definition not be a self-advocacy group and I'm not sure you could bec... |

I see no reason to believe this is about a change in philosophy for them or a PR move. Sure, some resignations are done for PR reasons, but I see no reason to believe this is one of them. |
