Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Is aspergers existence proven scientifically?

Asperger's is real. Neural underconnectivity in some brain areas, overconnectivity in others, abnormal neurotransmitter levels. The only problem is that the diagnosis is left to modern shamans who assess patients based on their own subjective impressions without bothering to gather any real medical ...

Why did you self diagnose.. ....did you ever try to get a real diagnosis What is a real diagnosis? When I was 8 years old, I got my finger caught in a door. It stood off at a weird angle, was swollen and hurt like hell. I diagnosed it as fractured. The orthopedist at the hospital agreed with me. At...

I'd rather tell people that I'm autistic than telling them that I have AS. When people hear "Asperger's", they either imagine a condition that gives people awesome geek powers and turns them into the next Einstein or Bill Gates, or they think of it as a mental disease that causes sufferers to say gr...

A lot of things give me severe sensory issues. Car horns and car alarms, sirens, gas-powered lawnmowers and so on. I imagine that's what some forms of stimming do to neurotypical people. It's bothersome and extremely annoying to them, perhaps even threatening in some cases.

I think that a cure would be a very bad idea. A cure for being the way that I was made, and for being myself? No thank you. If it was possible to replace the neural connections between the frontal lobe and the rest of the brain that are missing in autistic people, we would still be ourselves. We wo...

Nope. Trying to research a cure it is an idiotic waste of funds and effort. Some deaf people feel the same way about cochlear implants. Others are happy that these hearing aids exist. For the latter, it's a good thing that medical researchers didn't listen to those who think that it's great to be d...

Yes, of course :? If individual autistic people feel fine the way they are, they don't have to take medication or undergo treatment. But there are autistic people who have actual problems and disabilities and would very much like to be cured from their condition. People who don't have any problems t...

I try to say Asperger's the British way, even though I'm not British - "As-per-jers" instead of "ass burgers." It sounds way more dignified. I pronounce it "usparger" (or "aspɛʁɡɐ" in the international phonetic alphabet spelling). That's how Hans Asperger's name is pronounced in...

A ruptured appendix perhaps. I don't know if the pain is worse than giving birth, but it was pretty damn painful before I passed out.

Um no, a young hot man is to a woman what a young hot woman is to a man. Women are visual too. It's not unreasonable for her to go after a tall handsome man her own age, It's a little unreasonable in just my opinion for old men to chase barely legal skirt. Both is very reasonable from a biological ...

Imagine a 70 year old male virgin in the same situation: Lived with his mother until she died at age 97 and is now looking for a young, blond and curvy woman who is an excellent cook. Just imagine the outrage. People's opinions would range from "dirty old man" and "sexist pig" to "what a freaking l...

Alright ! We don't have enough jobs in the U.S. already. Now you want to fire burger flippers. Is say more burger flippers, more fat. Now we can assign personal trainers to those obese beings (more jobs). Not to mention doctors, nurses and dieticians. (more jobs) ok, where will the duckie$$ come fr...

I was still trying to get my brain around a society that would think an 80kg 12 year old is a good thing when they threw in that stuff about force-feeding their daughters cow steroids. 8O It appears that Mauretanians have never heard of high-fructose corn syrup. They could learn a thing or two from...

I'm sure this is not the first time in human history that 12 year old kids have sex. And it is certainly not the first time that immature kids do something incredibly stupid and embarrassing. The question is, why were they unsupervised in an empty classroom and had unsupervised access to recording e...

Why would someone do that to their cat? It's animal abuse. :( My first cat -- the first that I had since I started living on my own, that is -- was already 7 years old and overweight when I got her. She was used to dry food, refused to eat anything else and never lost weight. She gained more weight...
