It is unfortunate that somewhere in Christianity it became an obligation that they must get everyone else to do as they say. I guess the former infallibility of the Pope and the idea that the rapture will only occur once everyone has made the decision whether to join or not, gives both an excuse and...

She is morally bound to carry that child to term, but no one's forcing her to raise the kid against her will. That's what adoption is for. Your opinion is noted, but the woman's opinion is much more important when it comes to her moral obligation to a blob of human cells which is not yet a person, ...

There seem to be a couple of fallacies being thrown about here. First, abortion is not universally allowed. Many countries have laws against rape victims aborting the parasite which would become a baby if allowed to use the woman for 9 months. Secondly, people are generally extremely precious to oth...

It is no business what woman does with her body, that is true. But there is a point to all the defensive behavior us men exhibit regarding the women we love. Say my hypothetical gf gets raped: If this happened I would feel like I would want to hurt her rapist. After words, I get back from court and...

If you claim to be a Christian, then follow only the Christ , and not Paul, Peter, John, or any of the other writers of the Bible. How does anyone know what Jesus taught if they don't follow the words of the writers of the bible? To my knowledge none of the new testament was written until at least ...

God is a nice idea, a caring all powerful being who will make it all ok in the end, but faith is not. Faith is about putting the evidence of your senses to one side, ignoring that evidence, and blindly believing what someone who wishes to control you says. Normally delivered with a good measure of t...

I still think that this "greater good" argument is very flawed. The idea that the woman is the less guilty party if she is raped doesn't make sense. She did not cause the pregnancy, granted, but neither did the baby. These are the two in question. The guilty party has left the scene. So why is it ok...

I just think it's wrong to allow abortions to happen after rape if rapists aren't held responsible. My brain must have gone on holiday, I am not understanding these arguments. Do you mean its ok to abort if the rapist is caught and charged, otherwise have the baby? Why is having someone to blame so...

After a rape most women at the hospital get a pill that stops the fertilization before it occurs so it's not really an abortion. I would say after a rape most women don't go to hospital at all. After a vicious beating they might, but these are not the same thing, only sometimes occurring together. ...

Women only ever abort children they don't want to raise, so I don't understand your logic.

It's simple, it's about your choice vs someone else's choice. If you have consentual sex, and get pregnant, you have to accept the consequences of that action. You knew the risk, and you accepted the risk. No one forced you to have sex, and you are responsible for your own actions. A woman who is r...

Why abortion?
1) Because children born of rape aren't really welcomed in our society.
2) A lot of prospective adoptive parents aren't willing to take in such children or are just downright scumbags.

So children who are fathered by rapists are not like other children then?

Brainwashing is the acceptance of ideas as facts, without examining the evidence. The process starts the moment we are born. We can't examine everything from first principles, we wouldn't get to the end of the street in a lifetime. Some people think that not accepting given ideas is a characteristic...

I am confused on this point. From a pro-lifer's point of view, why would aborting a foetus which came about as a result of rape be acceptable while aborting a foetus which came about through recreational activities be murder? I was raped many years ago, I was a few months under the age of consent, I...

I have an Aunt moved from Ireland to a Muslim country in the 1970s, she told me the job opportunities and equality for women were much better there. I guess since then the advent of AIDs brought about the legalisation of contraceptives, the first divorces were allowed and then the law changed to rem...

I don't think it can top Kincora, those boys were kept for years and had no way to escape, no-one talked about it then.
