I think the episode is called In the Cards from DS9. Jake and Nog trade and barter with many people to acquire a rare Willie Mays baseball card for Jake's father, Cpt Sisko. The card is included in a an auction lot, and the winning bidder will only trade the card for a certain item. Well that certai...

Based on my horrible experiences with a redneck football player freshman roommate, I offer the following advice. Don't pre-judge. Do not reveal anything negative about yourself which can be used as a weapon against you. This is not a therapy session. You are just getting to know each other . Don't o...

Never thought of it. I'll have to do a comparison to find out. Right now, I am listening to Schumann's cello concerto in A minor, and thoroughly enjoying it. Tchaikovsky's Symphony in B minor 'Pathetique' , is one of the all time greatest compositions. Actually, his other two good symphonies, Nos. 4...

I don't know much about specific works, but any Bach I have ever listened to has never disappointed me. Goes for music from the Baroque era.

I listened to CD 1 of a two CD set of Stravinsky ballet music conducted by Abbado and LPO. Didn't blow me away. It had Rite of Spring, Firebird and Jeu de carte. CD 2 has Petrushka and Pucinella so maybe it will be better.

Sad news about Pavarotti's passing. Which of his performances on CD or DVD should I check out? Thanks for the youtube clip of The Magic Flute. That part of the aria where the high notes are hit is very famous and I never knew where it came from til now. Listening to Don Giovanni, Le Nozze Di Figaro ...

I am listening to Mahler's 6th Symphony, which sounds haunting to me. Not as in scary but as in emotionally wrenching.

Thanks for the responses. DVDs of the operas should be enlightening because sometimes when two female characters are conversing(singing) , they sound exactly alike . The stage directions in the librettos are sparse so visualizing the action and placement of the characters is impossible, especially du...

Just started listening to it. Mozart's Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, Wagner's Tristan and Isolde. Not really digging it except for the overtures. Big problem is that the music is simply not memorable. Singing dialogue seems wasted. Would be better, as is the case in musicals, if the dialo...
