Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Aspies leaving WP due to percieved "tone"

I don't know about "tone" but I do remember reading a couple of comments in these past years since my registration on WP about some autistic people experiencing moments of feeling left out/not being included as much for having somewhat different needs. As for me, I can relate to the overall feeling ...

Zero. No official diagnosis prior to the ASD diagnosis. I was kept away from psychologists and psychiatrists until I became a legal adult. I am all for optimism but I sincerely doubt that professional would have figured "oh, this kid has autism/AS" on their own, especially not throughout 1992 to 200...

I've been bullied too like the other users and it still happens a lot when I meet new people. I don't know for sure what caused it and what's still causing it. There are only a few things that I know for sure: 1) Bullies hardly know anything about me. So, I guess it has a lot to do with that rather ...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Feel younger than peers

Definitely. I got from therapists and a psychiatrist that dealing with people younger than me by a couple of years - just 3 years to be specific - must be boring and therefore not truly enjoyable to me but truth is, I'm totally fine with it. I totally don't feel how playing around with a kid on an a...

ASD and ADHD here and bad at proof-reading my own texts or other known texts (without meds). Also bad at re-reading longer texts. I'm most amazing at pointing out spelling mistakes however (as in "details that are out of place") when failing to focus on whatever else is of importance such as, for ex...

Totally exhausting. I went to a compulsory counsel session about university in early September and I tried hard to socialise some by paying attention to some of the (50ish) people there, listening to the talks and asking questions about what they told us. I wanted to see if I could get by because I ...

You'd definitely have to know the anime in order to understand this. No point trying to read anything into it without knowing both about Haruhi and Yuki. Edit: on second thought, if you don't mind spoilers, wikipedia has short summaries of their personalities: Yuki (HFA) taken from here : Yuki has a...

Behind all the layers of progamming in my head, I don't know what is natural and what is "Me". I would think that I needed some help in getting in that direction by following the ways of which I should have functioned in the first place, by sticking to my habits of "programming" myself, just this t...

I got pretty average results for the first two tests. However, I simply pressed "1" on the first test most of the time because I couldn't detect a face and alternated between "1" and "2" on the second test. There should have been an option for "no idea". Alas, I don't think random button pressing me...

- I don't think I have problems with Theory of Mind. But I know I always refer someone else's experience back to myself e.g. "How would I feel if I had that job dumped on my desk? Ah, she must be feeling apathetic", this is as far as I can go with empathy and it seems to work, but it doesn't take t...

I filled out the AQ test and Alexithymia Scale according to the answers my parent and I had worked out together for a version of the same test that I had to take a few weeks ago for an ASD testing. So glad I kept a copy of my answers! I wish there were options saying (expressive language) Have diffi...

I suspect that my autism is of the aloof-type. My ASD therapist would most likely peg me as "passive" and I thought that would be it for the longest time. But my past passiveness was always the result of trying hard and is not the natural state-of-being I revert to when I'm exhausted. I worked on ge...

What exactly does it imply, that aspies aren't aware that others are similarly conscious? That was how I was as a young child. I thought people were... things. Not like me. Irrational things that did unexpected things and made little sense unlike me who had all those plausible if... then... thought...

3. the USA will skip ICD-10 and go straight to ICD-11 (asperger syndrome is probably still going to be in there!) By the looks of it, what's currently known as AS in the ICD-10 won't be included in the ICD-11 and also, the disorder will not be referred to as AS anymore. See here http://www.wrongpla...
