Definitely reversed. I can blow through non-fiction pretty quickly, but fiction takes a ton of "set up" in my head. I usually feel extremely lost for a few chapters, and I think it's because I read every single word and tend to only really comprehend it when I can "see" the scene in my head. It ends...

Not so long ago :D I discovered that I was not the only one, and I was amazed that so many different symptoms could be summarized by Asperger. I came to this forum expecting to meet people who were dealing with Asperger the same way I was and even better, I thought I would find some people who coul...

I visited the Valley for a conference a few years back. I actually thought it was fairly ugly and industrial, standing in sharp contrast to San Francisco. I almost got thrown off the VTA for not misunderstanding the fare system.

Quick question about the picture comparisons. It seemed like there were two types of differences there: there was one glaringly obvious fine-detailed difference (like the color of someone's shoes changing), and then there were the far more subtler ones which mostly seemed to be position relationship...

black sheep, closer to black holes. but, of course, you don't want to hear about it...you don't want to know we exist. I'm sorry that you've suffered so greatly... but that comment is totally uncalled for. Oren is not rubbing her life in anyone's face, regardless of how much it might seem like that...

It entirely depends. If the people are entirely circumstantial in my life, I don't particularly care what they think. Then again, I do my best to avoid emotional conflict with everyone . A classic example of this happened to me a few weeks back. I was waiting at the bus stop where I thought the bus ...

- Whilst I'm not a great believer in fate, do you ever get the feeling that certain things are beyond coincidence; that, somehow, a 'perfect storm' of seemingly random events seem to come together at just the 'right' time. You're describing the feeling of fate. Many, many others have felt this way ...

I'm not sure if congratulations is quite the right word, but I'm glad you've gotten some stuff sorted out about your life. That sounds wonderful. I've never felt the need to seek diagnosis. Maybe that's because there's a good chance I currently present as sub-clinical and just don't particularly val...

When I was 18 I was lucky enough to work for a man who had a very dry sense of humour. He used to take great delight in the way I initially took everything he said at face value. The time I spent working with him helped me learn how to cut down my reaction time from confusion to understanding when ...

I have perfect pitch. Mostly because of my many years of choir in high school during which our teacher drilled us to memorize middle C. So from there I can usually hum up or down to said pitch and figure out what it is (while being maybe a little flat) It's interesting how we all do this differentl...

Yep, I definitely have it. It makes reading music for transposing instruments (like the French horn) very difficult. I actually had to invent a way to read that was similar to reading a different clef. Only about 1 in 10,000 people have perfect pitch. Interestingly, something like 1 in 20 autistic p...

I almost always do my own thing in public without caring what other people really think. I tend to gravitate towards activities which I both find interesting and unusual (i.e., the unusualness of something usually makes it more attractive to me). I've almost always had better success with people whe...

I had some dental work done last week. The chair was equipped with a TV and was extremely annoying to watch flash around in front of my eyes. I requested that it be turned off, and the assistant was very surprised. "Are you sure? Well, OK... but just let me know if you would like me to turn it back ...

Perhaps not knowingly or intentionally draw attention, but the reality is that they probably end up with more attention (positive and negative).

I used to sit next to people like that at work. It was odd but I didn't actually work with them whatsoever; I was assigned to sit there because that's where the free cubicle was. They were always talking up a smalltalk storm, and it was almost entirely about stuff I didn't care about (People Magazin...

But I didn't have a good day. Instead I cried. I needed to get outta the house so I went to the convenience store, got some alcohol and sat outside of my apt. complex on a swing listening to my Ipod. I'm sure all the tenants passing by thought I was crazy, a 30 yr. old girl swinging by herself 8 at...
