Well, I didn't play much with other children, I resented them and prefered solitary activities like reading, disassembling stuff, collecting/observing beetles, playing with legos/solving puzzles/building stuff in general. I had a vivid imagination and extreme scientific curiousity, which noone seeme... |

This thread is likely to attract smokers. People who smoke usually get into it for social reasons (peer pressure, wanting to fit in, something to do together, learned behaviour) or because it's relaxing (in the beginning). I'm quite sure the social aspect of smoking doesen't appeal as much to aspies... |

If you're like me and couldn't care less about relationships, then I'd say guys have it easier - well, as an adult atleast (guys are more often subjected to physical bullying). If finding the love of your life or just dating in general is important to you however, and you happen to me male, well good... |

Haven't had a special interest since the age of 6 (from then it's been several on/off interest and daily interests), but I feel really guilty about unproductive interests like tv series, gaming etc. Sadly, those are often the ones I like the most. I'd like to focus on whatever I'm good at, like natu... |

A few tips. - Don't find excuses - if somthing can be done today, it should. - Drawers, bins, folders, boxes. Anything that keeps your appartment nice and tidy is money well spent. I'll clean my apartment, update on the news. If necessary, I study. Otherwise weekends are a great opportunity to work on personal projects like building circuits, assembly or c++ coding as well as sculpturing and painting. |

It took me years to learn how to tie my shoelaces. And it still takes me 10 times longer than the average person. Ah well... Same... The things I can do... yet how people tie their shoelaces (so that they doesen't untie) will always remain a mystery to me. Also I learned to to tie a necktie from wa... |

Sounding intelligent a sign of autism/as? Not neccessarily. Being considered a genius, while not being able to tie your own shoelaces properly ? Now that's more like it. I'd like to add that while using 'big' words (naturally, with fluency, precision and within the right context) is a sign of high (... |

I have heard professionals use it. I think it is a colloquial term and provides a useful shorthand which is readily understood. I'm extremely surprised that your psychiatrist hadn't heard the term. If he were a plumber or a accountant I would be less surprised, but a psychiatrist?! 8O Well, I was k... |
