The description of your husband measures that exactly of my ex-husband. We were married for 23 years and I found many things bazzar but could not figure it out, we have been divorced 7 years. It was only in trying to figure out my sons issues that I realized he has AS and then realized it was me too...

I agree with Chronos, when I was a child my relatives were always saying "What wrong with her?" and now nobody wants to believe and now my son is being diagnosed they think I must be making it all up. However there is nothing I can do and I don't have the energy to even start to convince them. I thi...

So it sound like your best option will be to move out with your sister. However since you would not be able to live off your college loans for ever and considering you will have to repay at some point, perhaps you should look at getting a diagnosis more as a priority assuming that will be the only w...

Are you feeling that you have to leave your parents home? Is there any way your parents would consider a family counselling session to try to hear what your issues are? Would you having an official diagnosis help them understand? It is very difficult... the psychiarist told me son (13) that he neede...

I don't have any good answers, but I do care what happens to you. :) I feel like I don't understand relationships at all, having struggled all my life and still it seems like I am no closer. I keep to myself now and I keep everyone at arms length because of so many bad experiences. I try to focus on...

Yes, attention to detail but then miss the obvious. It can be an aspie trait from what I understand, seeing the part and not the whole. :)

Torako, that sound great! Chances are Ben might be there helping his mother out. Take along a letter so you have something to leave with her and even if he is there consider giving the letter to him as I think it would show how much you cared about making amends for the past. Good Luck! You are a sp...

Welcome! I only realized I was AS because I was trying to figure out how all my son's issues fitted together and then suddenly it all became very, very clear. I visualize and can work my way through building stuff or taking it apart in great detail, I know what the end result will be before I start.

Another suggestion... the article has his mothers name in it. You could try tracking her down she may still live in your town, ask her if she could let you have contact information for Ben. If she doesn't want to give it (likely not in this day) perhaps she would not object to you writing a letter t...

I like twisting my hair a lot, though it doesn't do my hair much good! My daughter likes to create a tremor in her leg, shake it as such. At first she said she couldn't control it but now she admits she uses it to ease her emotions and anxiety. It took the place of some more destructive stims she ha...

I theory it would be nice to be able to share just how hard things can be for people on the autism spectrum. I have not met anyone who is actually interested, basically because they don't understand or have no concept. When I have tried to give someone insight into my life the usual response is 'Oh'...

So how should one respond when a psychologist says my daughters body movements are related to anxiety and because she repeats the same movements over and over she is moving more towards OCD. My daughter's right leg tremors severely and yes it is when she is under stress, she knows she is doing it an...

I like routine, but can move beyond it for a bit, but then I start to loose the plot and yearn to have my stability and I become more and more overwhelmed. I need people to tell me exactly what they want or expect from me otherwise I have no idea and feel completely lost. :(

Thank you for the responses, I share the same views. I was feeling outraged and insensed at what she suggested as she has not yet met my son, so I though she was out of line for commenting anyhow. We home school and he has been far more responsive this year in coming to do his school work when neede...

I'm waiting on an assessment for my son for AS but in talking to the intake team leader today she mentioned their thinking lately was to offer a drug to children to stop them hyper focusing on special interests. I was totally floored by the suggestion... on giving something to a child that would alt...
