i have a son with aspergers age 13, and a hubby with aspergers as well....they both react differently to situations. my son is more social, but almost always misinterprets social situations ( yes, life here is often one crisis after another)...my hubby has alot of anxiety as well as alot of the sens... |

my 13 year old aspie-boy has struggled with depression and anxiety for the past 2 years. we struggled as well to get him a diagnosis ( all of his anxious behaviors were attributed by the school system as simply being willfully deviant)....at any rate, son is in private therapeutic school now . he's ... |

just when i thought nasty boy was gone, he shows up at the house yesterday :x both sons went out with him....it was near supper time, so at least i was able to limit the contact by telling them they needed to be home for supper. aaarrrggghhh!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! ! ... |

i totally understand about your son having a friend that you don't like, and being stuck because you want them to figure things out. ( my son is in 8th grade also).....i let this awful relationship blossom for a year...pointing out to my son things the other boy did that were not kind . my son, too,... |

we thought about homeschooling our son, but as most of his problems are social and not academic, we felt that he needed to be in a school with other peers to work on the social bit..........we tried the large middle school for 2 years, but what a disaster!! !! !! we finally got the district to agree... |

i went to an autism fair yesterday, and got lots of information about lots of things ( camps, schools, swings, books, etc)...i stopped at one booth that was touting AIT ( auditory integration training). has anyone had any experience with this ? does it actually work ? their claims seem too good to b... |

my son wore shoes with velcro tabs instead of laces until the stores stopped selling them in his size.....now, he ties them once and if they come untied, he just steps all over the laces..... he learned to ride a bike over a period of 3 months. he's 13 now, and still has frequent bike accidents in w... |

good luck at the ppt ! you pointed out that you are not sure if he's taking advantage of his diagnosis.....only time will tell...My son, in some cases, cannot help the way he acts ( partially because he is still learning socially appropriate behaviors)...other times I'm certain that he knows what to... |
