To those of you that were diagnosed as adults, how did it change your life, or did it at all? Yes, it changed my life. It changed me inside, and for the better, too, as I examined every incident and exchange in my long memory of growing up and becoming a woman. I sorta stopped being so damnably har...

My husband, long ago, told me that if I were ever raped, he would treat it as adultery. He said that knowingly putting yourself in a situation where something like that can happen is, basically, the same as consenting to or even soliciting it. I thought he was horrid at the time. Fifteen years late...

(spoken) In the beginning, there was just God, So God made man in his own image... a little image that is. Man asked God, "My God, how great art thou?" And to show man his great power, they played a game. (and then the song....) God and man played hide-and-go-seek. God told man, "Now man, don't you ...

I don't think "do neurotypicals pull this manipulative bs in dating?" has quite gone out of style, nor has it been solved. If it were interesting 4 years ago, why not now?

Personally, I feel lucky that I'm asexual. I feel grateful that my reproduction hormones have subsided after menopause. I am no longer goaded to make contact with males to satisfy my hormonal cravings. I don't know if men have this release, though, mine was a natural situation brought on by age and...

History's Mystery,
The best thing about WP is there are other folks with far more awesome skillz than mine.
After a while one starts to realize that one has finally found their 'tribe'where one is 'normal'.

savants are only good at one thing (like doing math in their heads or playing the piano). you sound more like a genius (someone with an IQ over 140) who is good at lots of things. the IQ spectrum is as follows: 1 to 24 - Profound mental disability 25 to 39 - Severe mental disability 40 to 54 - Mode...

Yes, I've always thought the same thing. But there is one thing I forgot to mention. It's something I take for granted, but has never been described by any other person I know. I have what I call mental photographical abilities--that is, I don't forget anything. I can tell you anything from the fir...

Welcome to WP! :D

Instead of being a savant, perhaps you need to be stepped up a few grades until your capacity to learn is challenged. Being a 'savant' means you are already really, really, good at some things.

I could do it, from about 20 to my late 50's, get together a new identity and get a job and fake my way though, for about 12 to 18 months and then I was pretty much toast. It is like having plates spinning on poles, things go well for a time and then becomes stress-fully out of control. However, I j...

Yes, a lot of what you're saying sounds familiar. I've had similar negative reactions from psychologists and counselors when I've suggested aspergers as just a possibility for some of my lifelong struggles. I've gotten glares, which made me feel like I'm a horrible person who needs to just act writ...

I can easily lose that feeling of 'being an Aspie". All I have to do is stay in my apartment for weeks with my internet connected computer and my cat. I have enough 'social' experience by going through the check out line in the middle of the night at the 24 hour grocery. I only 'feel like an Aspie' ...

. I have a feeling that I know about NT's in a way that no NT has ever bothered to know me because I have had to to survive. I know the feeling. Also those NT that just take as granted that I think becoming MORE like NT is my goal. The longer I realize I am not like them the more I don't care to 'f...

We have a long lived thread on WP called the Dino Aspie (Ex) Cafe. Most there are late diagnosed Aspies. Read over our thoughts, we were all like you, ya' know.
