Falcon NW 5.5
512MB of RAM (upgraded to 768MB... I was trying to get it up to 1024 but they had put two 256 sticks instead of one 512 stick in there )
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (2.08 GHz)
111 GB hard disk
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
CD-RW and a DVD-ROM drive
and a very shiny Sony flatscreen monitor
I will probably build my next one... but I haven't been the game junkie I used to be, so I'm not racing to get ahead of the curve anymore.
PowerBook G4/1.25GHz, MacOS 10.4.2 (main work computer)
AlphaSmart Dana (main writing tool)
iBook/700, MacOS 10.3.8
TiBook G4/500, MacOS 10.4.2
PowerBook G3 Pismo, MacOS 9.1
PowerBook G3/Kanga, MacOS 8.6
PowerBook 1400c/166, MacOS 8.6
PowerBook 145b, MacOS 7.1
eMate + RAM expansion, NOS 2.1
Newton MP2000, NOS 2.1
NEC PC8201a + various expansions (Kyocera clone)
Tandy Model 102 (Kyocera clone)
Olivetti M10 (Kyocera clone)
iMac G4/800, MacOS 10.4.2
Mac Colour Classic, MacOS 7.1
Mac Classic II, MacOS 7.6.1
Mac SE/30, MacOS 7.1
Mac SE, MacOS 7.0
Mac Plus, MacOS 6.08
Atari: 400/48k, 800/48k, 600XL, 800XL
Commodore: Amiga500, C128D, Vic20, C64, C16, Plus/4, 8032SK, 8096SK, 8296D
Mostly I use the main powerbook along with a Palm PDA or AlphaSmart Dana for writing. Most of the rest are bits and pieces I've picked up over the years (mostly second hand or free), largely because I liked the design.
I don't have or use a PC
*whine!! !* None of the sticks worked. He had two, the computer wouldn't accept any combination. But, he sold me his laptop for $200.
IBM ThinkPad
Pentium 3
156 MB RAM
blah blah blah

I agree with you, those motherboards that compaq put into their computers are piles of crap, i have a p3 motherboard from a compaq lurking around, and it is a pile of crap

I have recently purchased a Pentium 3 motherboard off eBay so work can begin on machine number 8
The machine, named Xana after the newer Olivetti box, will possibly used as a server
Here is the sort of spec that I expect it to be, this is not a definate list, it's only a rough guess
CPU: Intel Pentium 3 @ 866 MHz
RAM: 256 MB
Onboard sound (though I most likely won't be using it)
3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 graphics card (lying around spare)
Realtek RTL-8139 NIC
WD Caviar 6.4 GB Hard drive
Delta Electronics 48x CD ROM drive
Tape backup drive
Will most likely run Ubuntu Linux
