Today Google held it's Google I/O press conference.

They announced:

Android M as the successor to Lollipop, which is available for beta download now, full release later this year.
Yes Google has abandoned the sweets naming convention of Android.

(That is the final logo)

Android Pay: the full challenger to  pay. It will use NFC, Host Card, and can be built into Apps.
It is also taking the place of Google Wallet.
Google is making this App available on all Android devices, central part of Android M, no deleting this app!
It also supports Android phones finger print scanners.
No rewards program for Android Pay as of yet ( Pay rewards is leaked to launch in two weeks at  WWDC)

Google is promising that Android Pay will free us from the tyranny of  Pay and Samsung Pay.

Google announced Intent, which improves in app linking.
You no longer have to deal with a prompt asking you if you want to open a link...
Links open now by default in Android M.

Lastly Google announced that Android M will support USB-C port (you know that little round port that Apple was mocked for using on the new thin MacBooks) for faster charging as of now

Android users are you celebrating your liberation from Apple and Samsung?
