I am now 100% Microsoft free (except for my OS which is Windows XP). Wow, what a relief! For the past few years I have pretty much only been using open source software that gets updated often. The only Microsoft software I was using was Notepad, Windows Picture & Fax Viewer and MSN Messenger. I finally use alternative software in place of Microsoft's lame software. I did a hunt a couple weeks ago for better alternative software to Microsoft's versions and I think I've found the best possible apps. Instead of Notepad I now use Notepad++ which is really cool and much more superior to Microsoft's crappy version of it. In place of Windows Picture & Fax Viewer I now use Irfanview which is superior, but I hate the fact that they have an option to install adware on your computer while installing the app (I HATE anything that installs adware on your computer, even if there is a choice to not install it). Finally, in place of MSN Messenger I now use Pidgin, which I HATED at first but I'm finally beginning to become fond of it. The main thing I hate about most Microsoft software is that it doesn't get updated regularly, and it always seems like Microsoft had idiots in mind when developing their software. (It's overly user-friendly and doesn't let you customize things the way you'd want them to be)
