The Man Who Knew Too Much (A 1934 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock)

A Bay Of Blood.

1971 Italian film that was the inspiration for the American horror movie, Friday The 13th. While the American film was filled mostly with characters in their late teens or early twenties, most of the Italian movie's characters were rather long in the tooth. Plus, the plot proved to be rather convoluted. Not a great movie, but watchable as the inspiration for the more straightforward American product.

Someone recently in our house saw the shelves with our video collection and then suggested Lisa Frankenstein to us. Now that we've seen it, I agree! It fits into our collection well.

P.S. It very much reminds me of The Loneliest Boy in the World.

The Neon Demon.

A girl with dreams of becoming a big time fashion model unexpectedly strikes success. Then in her journey of losing herself in the soulless modeling industry, her story turns from just being dark to a genuine horror movie!
Very surreal, very dark movie that changes into a horror movie by the end.

Deep Rising

The writing was supposed to be comedic, I think, but felt mean spirited and random. It was hard to care about any of the characters. Eventually I skipped to the ending.

There is a lesson to be learned from this movie. Even someone who directs a bad movie (IMO), can go on to direct a great one. A year after this Stephen Sommers made The Mummy. He also did Van Helsing and Odd Thomas.

Well worth watching.

Laserblast.

Simply terrible sci-fi movie, in which reptilian, E.T. looking, stop-motion-action aliens incinerate a green skinned fugitive, but leave his laser gun behind. The gun in turn is discovered by a teen ager, and is soon transforming into said alien fugitive to commit further atrocities.

An entertaining spoof of 1970s feminism.

San Franpsycho (2006)

Watched this direct to video film with Rifftrax commentary.
It wasn't a big budget film, but it wasn't terrible. It was better than adequate.
The Rifftrax commentary with Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphey, and Bill Corbett was silly and fun.

Earlier - Absolute Force (1997)

Watched this with Rifftrax commentary.
This film had guns, and then it also had some guns. One scene had a car trunk of guns and a metal suitcase that also had guns. To be honest, I don't remember much of the plot. Take that as a sign.
The one thing I do remember is a scene where actress Calista Carradine pulls out two pistols, holds them out front, but sideways, and with her arms crossed. Looking "cool" was more important than good marksmanship. It was totally laughable. Although, gun violence should not be laughed at.

Still earlier - The Demons of Ludlow (1983)

Yet another riffed film from Rifftrax.
Another low budget film. The small town Ludlow, population forty-nine, has a curse. The curse comes alive when a harpsicord, rescued from storage, is played, and summons demon spirits from the past to materialize and kill. For the budget, it was not terrible. It was adequate in a good sort of way. I liked it. Unlike Absolute Force, I remember some of the details, such as the town has forty-nine people, minus those that were killed. I wrote at length about the only thing I remember from absolute force.

A TV movie from a Mary Higgins Clark book. Bridget and Mary Jo have riffed a series of made for TV movies from Mary Higgins Clark. They all have a Lifetime or Hallmark channel feel to them.

All films and several shorts were selected at random from the Rifftrax app for Roku from content I've purchased from Rifftrax over the years. There is a Rand-O-Riff button, and I LOVE that button. So yes, I own copies of these riffed films. The film might be unwatchable, but the riffing is generally better than good.
