Some time ago my bride and I watched Bumblebee [2018] in anticipation of (last night) watching:

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts [2023]
<=>"Unite or fall."

Reasonably good more-of-the-same.

Coffee And Cigarettes.

Funny little vignettes shot in black and white of various colorful or eccentric people having conversations over coffee and cigarettes. Very enjoyable.

Gods Of The Deep.

Lovecraft inspired horror film, in which deep sea explorers find the remains of a pre-human city in the ocean near Antarctica. But it's not deserted, and the people behind the expedition know it.
B grade horror, but still enjoyable, especially for Lovecraft fans.

I just saw Gentlemen Broncos (2009). It's so terrible I think it makes everything else made by the creators worse (Nacho Libre, Napoleon Dynamite). I seriously think this may be the worst movie I've ever seen.

Suitable Flesh.

Valentine's Day gift from my wife. Not a literal adaption of Lovecraft's The Thing On The Doorstep, which it's based on, but still an enjoyable horror movie.

too much long/formal/theatrical setting, guess that goes with the work, but it grew on me
(having a tiny little knowledge on the china history/ eg, Chiang Kai-shek situation)
guess i'll have to find the 'The Manchurian Candidate' movie as well, oh there's two

My Man Godfrey

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028010

Quote:
In the depths of the Depression, a party game brings dizzy socialite Irene Bullock to the city dump where she meets Godfrey, a derelict, and ends by hiring him as family butler. He finds the Bullocks to be the epitome of idle rich, and nutty as the proverbial fruitcake. Soon, the dramatizing Irene is in love with her 'protege'

Absolutely brilliant! William Powell is amazing!

I love that movie! We had it on VHS when I was growing up. I was just thinking about rewatching it.

An entire web series put together into a feature film.

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) on MeTV: Svengooli

I knew that Elsa Lancaster wore stilts to make her taller, but when Svengooli mentioned it, for some reason it was something I actually noticed for once. For instance, when she sits down, her knees are higher up on her legs. I never noticed that before.

Oppenheimer.

Biopic of the man put in charge of the creation of the first atomic bomb, then suffered the consequences for it when he and other scientists worked to prevent its continued use.
Great movie, with top actors in character roles.
