They're very different characters, but I prefer Spock, since he has so much going on under the surface. Having said which I love Data. He reminds me of a child in his innocence.

I know a woman who looks just like her. I'm incredibly envious... she has no idea the effect she has on folks when she walks into the room.

Unfortunately she's nothing like the character in terms of behaviour... the minute she opens her mouth and starts talking about the soaps the similarity ends.

I know more about Data than I do about Spock. Also, I sort of look like Data.

definately Data Ive always loved Data , but Ive heard that Brent spinner who plays him is not a good person in real life. Oh and Diana Troy I had an incredible crush on her as a teen I couldnt wait for an episode of next generation to come on featuring her.

Spock is the epitome of Teh Awesome.

Mostly because his Mirror Universe counterpart had a Beard Of Evil. An evil Data just couldn't compete with that :)

Of the choices presented I would have to say Data. It is always interesting to see how similar and yet opposite those two characters are, however. As Spock himself suggests in "Unification" (TNG) their personalities are very similar -- but Data's ongoing obsession with finding the "humanity" he doesn't have is almost the antithesis of Spock's endeavours to distance himself from his own.

=====
But in all honesty, perhaps I am a little biased because I freely confess I like the 24th century Trek universe a bit more than the 23rd. My favourite character is Julian Bashir, and second is Elim Garak, both from DS9.

I like both, but if you're thinking of an AS comparison, I think Data is the better one. Spock has feelings and does understand them to some point, but he's conditioned (as all Vulcan) to deny his emotions. Data (for the longest time) had no emotions and had to intellectually process what they were and how it affected interaction, which seems very AS to me.

After all, you'd expect an "alien" to not understand humans. A machine made in the image of humanity and designed to function with humanity not understanding humans is almost a tragedy.
