Interesting. I loved Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade mainly because it was perfectly fine with being imaginative and fun, unpretentious, and generally great entertainment--with a beautiful John Williams soundtrack.

Yes, they took 1930s-1940s serials and played them for laughs.

I wish they hadn't swapped the engine on that 1916(?) Saxon automobile to make a prop out of it, though--a Saxon is a rare car; also, blowing up the Model T Ford touring car that Sallah borrows from his relatives is a bit unfortunate (but amusing.)

Lets hope they follow a good/bad pattern.

1 & 3 are almost perfect adventure films, 2 was ok, 4 was awful.

I agree with that.

1 is my favorite movie of all time.

3 Is an epic sequel.

The idea is that 3 made up for how disappointing 2 was.

But then 4 ended up being much worse than 2.

So with 5 I will expect it to be mediocre to lousy. That way I will not end up disappointed and maybe end up pleasantly surprised.
