Hi - I've just joined ... my 10 y/o has recently been diagnosed with Aspergers and is also gifted. We live in the Atherton Tablelands, Qld, having just relocated from a remote Indigenous community where we lived for 3 years.

Ah, I forgot about this thread. Hi to all the new Aussies :D

Maybe I should introduce myself again, as I'm soon moving from Melbourne to rural Vic. There, that'll do.

Hi, my name is Nathan and I am a 19 year old Aspie living in Dulwich Hill, Sydney. Anyone else from that area or even other parts of Sydney? :D

Hey everyone!

Been way too long since I was here last.... years in fact. Been through a stack in that time. :?
Thought I would touch base again with other Australians and Adelaideans.

Anyone keen on setting up a group meetup? Seems other states have been doing it.

Feel free to PM. :D

Hi Anna good to hear from you. I was diagnosed as Aspie last month, received the psychologist report last week but ripped it up, it was so pessimistic. I think aspies have more advantages than disadvantages and I joined AU/NZ Autistic Self Advocacy Network. Haven't heard back from them though. Take care

Hi everybody I'm from Melbourne's inner north. Recent HFA diagnosis :D

A special hi to those from the NT, I fled Darwin back in '95. I was saddened to hear the support services up there are still limited.

Hi Eucalyptus,
Yeah, I'm staying in Preston until I can sort out the next chapter of my life. Last month's diagnosis changed everything for me.
I read your intro post, isn't it funny how one can make up all kinds of reasons for being different. I did that too, until my step-child was diagnosed.
What you were saying about relating to the aspie children more than your "normal" co-workers - so true.... My ex-partner and I had the same trouble - "What's so weird about that"... "Doesn't everybody?".... "Wouldn't you?" in response to questionnaires etc

Hi Jake I yes I think it's in my family too, to some degree, and we are quite comfortable with ourselves and accepting of each other. We get involved in community issues and use our abilities to help other people.
