hi everyone,

My name is Mel and I realized for certain yesterday that I'm an aspie. I'm 28 years old, with a bachelor's in psychology (a major choice I definitely regret now). After school I made a decent living as a professional online poker player for some years but now poker isn't quite as fruitful. I've always found the normal employment world particularly harsh and difficult to navigate. I currently work in retail and after this self diagnosis, realize that my money and my happiness will be difficult to obtain the rest of my life. But I've accepted it and am ok with it. (I'm contemplating going back to school but I'll save that rant for later)

I've had a lot of major life changes recently -
I changed my income source within the past year
I got engaged to my girlfriend of almost 5 years last November
I bonded significantly for the first time ever with my older brother last October (we were never close)
my fiancee and I moved in to live with her brother and dad in December (possibly a really bad idea)
and finally, a week ago I discovered that I believe in a higher power. I literally never did before so it was pretty significant to me.

And of course, my realization that I'm definitely an aspie. I guess that's enough sharing for now...

Mel

Hi. I studied psychology and played online poker for a living until a couple of years ago too. Literally no clue how I'm going to get money for a future life.

I'd move out from her family, that sounds terrible.

Hi Mel! Welcome to Wrong Planet!

Congratulations on getting closer with your brother.

1. Definitely do move out of your fiancee's father's home, as soon as possible. Make this a priority, as it is not likely to work out.

2. Do look into more schooling after you figure out what you are really interested in.

3. Be yourself.

Thanks for the comments and advice. I was wondering what you meant by 'be yourself'... did my intro post or other posts so far make you think I have independence issues? or is this some kind of general thing you say to everyone on here?
