Yes I think you can describe painting as my Special Interest. I tend to focus on one thing, though that one thing has varied throughout my life. When I found out about autism, I guess I made that my Special Interest too, like you, I believe

No sadly, I never did. Besides, I think I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to consider a career change. I'm just happy to have AS as a Special Interest. It takes up a LOT of my time
The other thing is, I've always been worried if I turned my Special Interest into a career (like I could have done with programming/networking), I would get sick of it and it would kill my Special Interest. Not sure though. Maybe that's just a cop out.
