bar underneath name

What's this bar underneath people's names? I see veterans usually have it full and new members don't. I thought it was post number but I've seen people with less than 1,000 posts have the bar full.

It is based on the number of posts you’ve made. I’m pretty sure you become a veteran when it hits 500-600 posts

AFAIK each block in the bar represents a 20% step nearer to Veteran status.
It adds an air of suspense to post counts. /jk
