:D 8) :) :P Par-tay!

Though just out of curiosity, what is it that you feel you are supposed to do?

...

Eggnog?

LOL

Though I'm not the party-seeking kind of person, would much rather shut myself in my room, with only virtual human contact.

I guess the next logical step would be me figuring out exactly what is I want in life.

(Sorry for all the pessimism, I've been feeling slightly depressed.)

Neither am I. A few emoticons are about the extent of it.

I'm kind of the same, in that I need a sort of endgame in mind in order to concentrate on the present. But...it's not really effective because my mind always changes and my current endeavors don't necessarily serve my future ambitions.

Well in that case your enthusiasm way exceeds mine ;).

I'm guessing, based on your username, that you're a biology major?

You got it.

My semester certainly could have gone better. I'll probably be getting a D, two C's, and an A.

I'm guessing by your courses that you're an English major?

I took a semester of biology, and long time ago. I couldn't afford it, so I dropped out. Then I switched to English/Portuguese but I'm going to drop out again. I'm currently wondering what it is I'll be dropping out of next. :?

You just need to find an area of study that fits you.

What kind of things do you like to learn about?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to find. The problem is, there are many areas that interest me, but they're mostly on hobby level and not something I see myself doing professionally. So I end up choosing something I think is promising and later find out that it's not exactly it.

It's not about liking or disliking college subjects. I know there will always be subjects we don't like but have to do them anyway. I don't really like grammar (in any language) for instance, but I love to read and notice how language is used: styles, structures, "formulas" and the logic in them. It's fascinating. That's why I chose the major.

Then what do you think is preventing you from achieving success?

I don't know for sure :? . I wasn't really at ease with the whole thing. At first my teachers were probably trying to help (I think) but then it became a bit too Orwellian and controlling (with the exception of two). They would sometimes call me ret*d or something as though I wasn't even in the room and i don't even want to think of what they were saying behind my back. I just couldn't take it anymore. My frustration was going through the roof and I started to feel really depressed, desperate and suffocated. This semester was hell. But it's for the best. Sometimes I actually feel relieved when I think I don't have to go back to that atmosphere. The real world is definitely not all flowers and perfume, but it's the real world. I imagine this kind of thing happens a lot...

Along with all of this happening I just really started to question the choice I had made, which led to greater frustration and depression because I'm sort of responsible for my family moving when I passed the college admittance test. It's a lot to handle.

Add that to the fact that I currently have no idea on what I want to do next, and sometimes fear I don't have the energy or motivation to pursue whatever choice I make.

Success is difficult to achieve under these circumstances...

I get the same feeling a lot, but you gotta buckle down and push through, ya know?

Perhaps it would be best to take a break from college to clear your head? Travel, read, right, or something along those lines.

Definitely. A break is just in time.

In a perfect world, we would get paid for doing nothing all day and not have to put an effort into anything :D

But zero productivity would not create a perfect world! :o

Do not underestimate the importance of a good break. Tomorrow...I just have to get past tomorrow. What a hellish semester it has been.

I hope you realize that you need to come to class, and I hope no one else is paying for these classes than you. You should look at youself and find out why you did not go to class?
There could be an underlining reason why you did not go to class?
You need to decide what to do , for an education (College,Vo-tech) is a valuable thing these days . I do wish you well, and hope you make the right choice for yourself, for you have to live with you decision.
