Even though I am getting an administration degree, I would like to work with animals hands on.

Do you have a job with animals or know someone who does and have suggestions?

I know someone who is a dog bather and that sounds cool.

I have a cousin who worked for years as as trainer for racehorses, She also did the routine medical care that did not require a Vet. Her daughter now works in a Vets office, She's good at her job, the animals like her.

That sounds like fun, I wonder how much training she was required to have.

I believe they both learned on the job although Kelly, the daughter, is taking college courses. Can't give you any specifics since everyone in the family has a hell of a time getting Kelly to answer the darn phone.

Very neat, thank you for the input. I think once we get this move out of the way I'll start volunteering on the weekends at the local shelter and see where that takes me.

Working with animals is fantastic. :)

I've done volunteer work with animals in the past. I've worked at a cattery and a pet store. I enjoyed both experiences.

Working at a cattery or kenel would be a good place to start, I think.

I worked for several years as a zookeeper and for awhile as an elephant handler. Got it's downside, like any job, but you get to be with the animals all day.

Don't know whether your interests run more toward wild or domestic animals.

Did you say that wasn't proper? Did you march out on the track?
You were quiet, just like mice. And now you say that we're not nice.
Well thank you buddy for your advice...

I've worked at a pet store, kennel, and volunteered at a local shelter. Even though I LOVE animals, none of those experiences were exactly pleasant for several reasons. One thing I've learned about doing animal related work-if your beliefs about an animal related issue ( vaccines, outdoor pets etc) go against the status quo-KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT about where you disagree! I've found out the animal people don't tolerate differing opinions much!
