I LOVE video game music!
Ecco the Dolphins music is fantastic, as is almost everything from the Zelda series, Metroid, Super Mario, and heck even Pokemon.
I have mostly video game music on my Ipod.
It's beautiful :)

Makes me nostalgic over the dreamcast era, t'was a simpler time. Recall the narrator in that game was great too. I remember meeting a good friend when I was a teenager because we had the same interest in this game, which we both thought was phenomenal. Alas like the game he is only a memory now. Sad!

Reminded of another old track that I love from another game.

From the indie game "Aquaria"

This track plays when you enter a HUGE part of the ocean after swimming through cavernous trenches and claustrophobic places, it really fits the
moment extraordinarily well.

I miss that game. It should be on steam for cheap if someone hasn't played it, it's a game that should be played if you like castlevania/super metroid sort of games, oh and some ecco into the mix.

I'm not sure what "ecco" is but i always liked castlevania/metriod games so I'll go check it out later on Steam to see if it's anything. Thanks for the tip!

Do believe it has a demo but it doesn't seem to be on steam, but I remember it gave a good impression of what the game was about. I'll warn that the game is narrated by the protagonist and her narration can be dreadful, but the rest of the game is fun and memorable.

If we are talking about video game music, I tend to like to stage music in fighting games, recently I bought Tekken 6 at a west coast video store.
I like listening to the music for certain stages, mostly the high rollers stage and the wrath of the earth or fury of the earth or whatever that stage is called. (the one with alot of fire falling from the sky) I can't remember right now. I wonder if that music ever found it's way onto youtube?

I listen to a lot of VGM, but no 8-bit or chiptunes really. Most of the super popular and classic VGM out there I'm not really into as general listening music. Certain games achieve a sound, though, that I absolutely love. Halo, Super Meat Boy, Bastion, and Hotline Miami are games that come to mind that have music that are perfectly to my tastes.

And to Cilantro, Terminal March and the Bastion OST is great and so are you for posting it!

I enjoy listening to video game melodies too. I don't mind 8-bit or orchestral or anything else. Those with lyrics though may bug me a little.
As of recently, I've been mostly interested in Phantasy Star related melodies, especially from Phantasy Star Online 2 though. Like this one:

I don't know if anyone else would be interested in these kind of medleys though. I enjoy them because they seem to fit the mood when you're playing the games. The same goes for many other games too.

I have also been a big fan of PSO music(episodes 1, 2, 3), although i never played PSO2. I especially like this one from episode 2.

I certainly am! I wasn't even aware PSO 2 existed, i always thought PSO ep2 was PSO 2. I would definitely want to try out PSO 2 but like any MMORPG it's such a timesink and i get waaayyy too addicted to it. :P

I could fill pages of this thread with some of my favourites, but I'll try to limit myself:

Mother 3 - Love theme and It is Finished:

Oh dear god, I'm tearing up just remembering the scenes these play in ;-;

Earthbound - Because I love you:

I am so looking forward to finally being able to play Earthbound at the end of this year

Final Fantasy VIII - Premonition:

The FF series has such a great soundtrack, it's unreal

I think that'll do for now

Those are some nice picks Mike1! I know all those games and you picked out some of it's best music.

And now for some of my most memorable final boss music picks:

Paper Mario: TTYD Music- Shadow Peach Battle A very dark theme for a Mario game, not to mention the insane difficulty of the boss.

Serious Sam 2 - MENTAL INSTITUTION Plain epic music, the only newschool FPS I like aside from Borderlands.

Zanza - Xenoblade Music Mostly memorable not only for it's music, but also because it took me roughly an hour to kill this boss. 8O
