Mass Effect 2
OUCH! The XBox's biggest flaw, but that doesn't stop me from using it. I love my system!
What is this flaw, the red-ringing, exactly?
Heat issue, the hardware can eventually fry itself with enough use and lack of air to keep it cool. I've found the most effective method to deal with it is A) appropriate HVAC for the room, and B) small props like bottlecaps at the four corners to hold the Xbox off the ground so the bottom fans get a good circulation going. I use the same trick for laptops as well.
The problem was also an issue with the original Xbox. You'd think MS would've learned from the first one, people tend to be a bit better about heat issues with desktops, but with a gaming system they don't take it into consideration. The other gaming companies however have never had that same issue.
Bottlecaps. I'll have to remember that one. Plastic bottlecaps? Or ones from glass bottles?
I HAVEN'T managed to keep everyone alive. After the ship upgrades, they STILL manage to die on the last mission. Is it because I am sending the WRONG people for certain tasks? I figured out Samara is perfect to keep up the Biotic dome while going through the Collector base. At the end, she uses her Biotics to push the enemies away so we can get through to the next section.
Anyway, which Mass Effect is everyone's favorite? I am finding, for some reason, that I like the first Mass Effect more. Maybe because of the variety in equipment and customization.
the trick is to have all your crew loyal. do all the side missions for them. tech in the tube i send legion or tali, biotic i use samara or jack, team leaders either miranda or garrus. and i use grunt as an escort but any loyal party member will do.
if you play on console, to get the every one survives achievments or trophey you can lose the captured crew and still get the points

Then I must not be doing something right, cuz they ARE loyal to me by the time I get to the end. Am I not talking to them enough?
If I remember right, last time I ordered Mordin to go through the heat shafts, and he ended up dying. I had Garrus escort people off the ship, but they made it. I had Tali escort another team to get through the base while we went in another way, and her suit got pierced. I remember having had, I think, Grunt do that with another Shepard, and he got killed too. Is there a certain way I have to do this?
Yes, ONLY Tali or Legion will survive the heat shafts to open the door.
ONLY Miranda and Garrus will survive as second team lead
ONLY Samara or Jack will survive as the biotic shield.
Most people will survive escorting, but a few won't. I know Grunt and Samara will as I've sent them myself. I heard from a friend that Mordin dies doing it. Not sure about the rest.
And of course not a damn one of them survive if they aren't loyal lol.
Lastly, plastic bottle caps, they're about 3/4 inch thick and work just fine.

second team leaders
garrus or miranda
tech in the tube
tali or legion
biotic for the seeker swarm
samara or jack
and the crew escort
i used grunt and he lived so try that
Ah okay. Sorry for not paying close attention to those details. I will try those characters then. As for my final team, I love using Jack and Miranda. They are VERY effective against the collectors, while I'm going against the big humanoid Reaper.

Thanks for the tips. I thought Mordin was pretty cool, but he's totally useless at the end apparently. But has anyone used him for the final battle? I really like his incinerate power.

Here is a tip, make multiple saves, and before each major decision save the game, that is before starting, when in a break between waves of enemies, and if someone dies, just revert back to before you made that decision, it helped me get everyone to safety, even though I thought that Grunt or Zaeed and Grunt would be less likely to get shot and killed the Miranda would, or that Mordin would not be dumb enough to stick his head out in enemy fire. I just do this automaticly in most RPGs so I can go back if I found be decision was not what I wanted, even when it is totaly unnecesary such as in Bioshock.

Not sure in the 360, but I don't think you get the ability to make manual saves during the final mission. Someone dies, you have to restart the mission (not the worst thing in the world, but you can't change your choice for the tech or team 2 leader slots). I found that even with everyone loyal, Mordin and Tali were prone to die. I solved this by having one escort the crew back to Normandy (so long as they are loyal, they should survive with no casualties), and I keep the other as one of my squad mates for the last battle. It's seems to work.

I pretty much had Mordin and Legion in my team for the entire mission. Incinerate and Neural shock aoe is very useful on the collectors and the Reaper. Legion just tossed down the combat drone as a distraction and started head shotting everything with his personal widowmaker.

Not so. I know Jacob also works as second team lead.
I thought using anyone other than Samara or Jack for the biotic shield = someone in your team (other than Samara or Jack) being carried off by the swarm.
In escorting, supposedly any loyal team mate will survive, but it's not absolute. Why? I don't know.
