Has anyone noticed that when you Google Wrong Planet an article bashing the site shows up high on the list?

So... people take an article that's not even a full page long and does not manage to even present a complete idea seriously enough for it to hit the first page of Google?

It'll sink.

OK, maybe they have a point about the banner ads, but those are easy to ignore.

Would it be better if the zoo cages were locked? How would one bring this about? What would it mean to us?

One particular administrator is now famous.

It looks like the first person is bitching because people didn't agree with him/her (people arguing over points).

Ah, looking at it again, it's clear that the author came in with a bias to begin with; check the tags, which include zomgaspies and aspiesforfreedom. Subtle: not the strong suit.

I am going to ask Alex if we became WP Supporters can we get the big banner ads off the pages? I am amused and appalled by the ads the general public sees on this site. If we all chipped in there wouldn't have to be advertising.

and who is the famous admin? :D

I, for one, would subscribe in order to be free of them.

OK,

Google works by looking for keywords and more importantly RECENTLY added keywords.

Google doesn't put something on page 1 because the webisite is pretty (in terms of SEO Google is picture blind, it sees ONLY words)

If the keyword is on the home page of a site, Google gives the site 'bonus points'

I could post an article about WP right NOW, peppered with 'wrongplanet', wrong planet' and it would probably be on page 1 of Google of Google in about 4 hours or less.

Members who have websites and blogs can get POSITIVE stuff about WP on page 1 of Google by including some information about WP on their site and perhaps even adding a hyperlink TO WP.

There are MORE genuine supporters (people who like WP) than those who do not like WP (in the membership anyway).

This is SEO 101 so Alex and the team will already be aware of this as will other members here who have had even a tiny involvement in website design and marketing.

Here's the Link[/quote]

It wasn't even on the list on Google, let alone at the 'top of the page' when WrongPlanet.net is Googled. It was made on some pay-for-college-paper random word generator engine website with no footnotes as to whom the quoted people were. :D Cheers!

Wait that's what the fuzz is about? Some dude who doesn't like the forum? It's not even an article, just a brief opinion piece. The stuff about people just analyzing everything you say is true for every single damn forum there is - Some people are just like that, and some places there are more of them. Same thing goes with the administrator thing.

I agree! The developer has the password to the front page. People have been asking for a new front page for ages. This would be exactly what would bring this to the attention of the membership!

Why do we have a problem with advertsing? The adverts don't bother me a great deal.
