I was in my stockbroker's office the other day. No, I am not a plutocrat - proceeds from my patrimony are long eaten up, I maintain an account there so that the money earmarked for the mortgage will though the month earn a couple cents more interest than it would in the bank. I pick up pennies on the street, folks. Found a whole pound once lying on the ground - in Edinburgh!! !!.
So the lady who kindly turns my paycheck into a receipt told me - on the day that the market deflated, her boss called her into the office to show her - the CNN screen, she told me, was running a streamer that said "Sell now - ask questions later".
The media are far from simply reporting the facts with minimized bias.
The media have progressed beyond commenting on the news with maximized detachment.
The media want sexy, the media want scary, the media want disgusting, the media want belligerent.
And the media will do whatever it takes to produce them.
