Not surprised.

The Americans have a terrible history of dealing with such incidents. It's like whenever a threat is made against in any capacity, the collective IQ of every border guard and police officer in the country drops to 5.

That's probably one of the things they really need to work on - analysing if people are making harmless jokes in their own idioms, or referencing non-U.S. TV shows, or are otherwise harmless.
