Yeah, I'd imagine with many decades of it one's coping mechanisms become quite elaborate. For my own hypersensitivities I went through a sort of macho phase in my early 20's where I felt compelled to bully myself out of it. That at the same time did a lot of damage but all other things aside it looks like enough persistence on that detail seemed to build the sensory veil I needed.

TallyMan its definitely not depersonalisation disorder as ive never had a feeling of observing from outside my body its more a feeling like i can see the falseness of people and hypocrisy and double standards that go on in society but everyone is happy to just follow along with it
on a side note even though did not share the op's views i looked at a post you locked "Racism" and Asperger's" it seems even here you cant have an objective discussion about something without a few being stupid but i must say a lot of posters did answer objectively with was refreshing
